Senior Manager – Direct & Indirect Taxation Full Time NEW

Role Overview

Responsible for end-to-end management of direct and indirect tax functions, including compliance, planning, litigation, and advisory. The role ensures adherence to statutory requirements while optimizing the organization’s tax position and supporting strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct Taxation

• Lead corporate income tax compliance including return filing, assessments, and appeals.
• Manage tax audits and coordinate with external consultants/advisors.
• Ensure timely payment of Advance Tax and TDS.
• Liaise with tax authorities for notices, scrutiny, and litigation matters.
• Track and implement changes in tax laws, including amendments through Finance Acts.

2. Indirect Taxation (GST & Customs)

• Oversee GST compliance including filing of returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.).
• Ensure accurate Input Tax Credit (ITC) reconciliation and optimization.
• Handle customs compliance for import/export operations.
• Represent the organization in GST audits, investigations, and departmental inquiries.

3. Tax Planning & Advisory

• Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for operations, CAPEX, and transactions.
• Assess tax implications of new business models, supply chains, and expansion plans.
• Provide tax advisory on mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
• Support management with tax impact analysis and scenario modeling.
• Continuously monitor regulatory updates, judicial pronouncements, and circulars.

4. Tax Accounting & Reporting

• Ensure accurate tax provisioning in line with Ind AS / IFRS / IGAAP, including deferred tax.
• Reconcile tax balances with books and financial statements.
• Manage tax disclosures for statutory audits and financial reporting.
• Support tax reporting requirements at consolidation level.

5. Litigation & Dispute Resolution

• Manage and track ongoing tax litigations across direct and indirect taxes.
• Coordinate with legal counsel for appeals, submissions, and writ petitions.
• Prepare documentation and represent the company before appellate authorities (CIT(A), ITAT, GSTAT).
• Evaluate and account for contingent liabilities.

6. Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to all statutory tax deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Strengthen internal controls to mitigate tax risks.
• Conduct periodic tax reviews and internal audits.
• Update leadership on key risks and mitigation strategies.

7. Stakeholder Management

• Act as a key interface between tax authorities, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Legal teams on tax matters.
• Support internal and statutory auditors with tax-related information and clarifications.

Qualifications & Experience

• Chartered Accountant (CA) with 8–12+ years of experience in direct and indirect taxation (preferably in manufacturing or large corporates).
• Strong knowledge of GST, Income Tax, Customs, and accounting standards.
• Experience in handling tax litigation and assessments.
