PurpleChalk is looking for a proactive, task-driven Social Media Trainee who can handle multiple brands, move fast, and own day-to-day social content execution. This is an entry-level/early-career role for someone hungry to learn, highly organised, and skilled at turning ideas into clear copy and visual direction.

You’ll support strategy and execution across clients from ideation and moodboards to content calendars and performance follow-up, and must be willing to research and understand competitor activity.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and execution of social media strategies across multiple brands
• Create and manage content calendars and ensure timely delivery of assets
• Write engaging captions, post copy, and short-form scripts
• Conceptualise and ideate content themes, campaign hooks, and formats
• Prepare moodboards, visual references, and shot lists for creatives and photoshoots
• Provide clear creative direction to designers, photographers, and video editors
• Assist and coordinate during photoshoots when required
• Research competitors, platform trends, and audience behaviour to inform content choices
• Monitor basic performance metrics and support weekly/monthly reporting
• Translate performance insights into simple POAs (plans of action) for improved engagement
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines; escalate blockers and drive execution to closure

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of social media experience (agency exposure preferred)
• Must be based in Chennai
• Ability to handle multiple brands/clients simultaneously
• Strong copywriting skills for social platforms (short-form & captions)
• Comfortable conceptualising and visualising content (moodboards, briefs)
• Good understanding of Instagram and other major social platforms
• Organised, proactive, and deadline-driven
• Willingness to research and analyse competitor activity and trends
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable collaborating with design, content, and production teams
• Experience assisting on photoshoots or basic knowledge of shot composition
• Familiarity with short-form video (Reels, Shorts, etc.)
• Basic exposure to analytics/platform insights and using them to optimise content
