ABOUT THE COMPANY
Haawks DeCloud is a cloud storage platform built for a single, uncompromising goal: to be there when users need it most. We are solving a fundamental gap in the cloud storage market – one that is technically adequate but experientially broken. Uploads fail, sync breaks, and systems collapse at scale.
We are building from first principles, delivering reliability, performance, and trust at scale for SMBs managing business-critical data. Our team operates across India and the United Kingdom, and we are currently at a pre-launch stage with the core product built and in QA.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is not a conventional internship. We are not looking for someone to shadow the team or work on isolated test tasks. We are looking for a builder – someone who will contribute meaningfully to a product that will go live to real users.
The successful candidate will work directly with our founding team, collaborate across time zones with colleagues in both India and the UK, and take genuine ownership of the work they produce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain core product features across web and mobile platforms using React and React Native
- Design, develop, and scale backend systems and APIs using Node.js and Express.js
- Work on real-world engineering challenges including file handling, system performance, and reliability at scale
- Contribute to architectural and product decisions – not just execution of pre-defined tickets
- Collaborate closely with a cross-border team across India and the UK in a fast-paced, high-trust environment
- Ship features that will go live to real users at product launch
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong foundational knowledge of React (or React Native) and Node.js
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve with minimal supervision
- An active GitHub profile demonstrating personal or academic projects (carries more weight than academic credentials)
- Genuine attention to product quality, performance, and end-user experience
- Strong written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration across time zones
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NOT MANDATORY)
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows
- Exposure to deployment pipelines, cloud environments, or production systems
- Prior experience building and shipping a project end-to-end, however small
- Interest in distributed systems, scalable architecture, or system design

Compensation & Growth Pathway
This is a 2-month unpaid internship. We are transparent about this because we are a pre-revenue startup optimising for interns who value genuine ownership, real-world impact, and early-stage exposure over a stipend. Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance will be prioritised for paid roles, equity consideration, or extended collaboration as the company scales.
