The Role
As a Lumen Senior Accountant of the Fixed Asset team, you will provide timely and accurate accounting for our fixed assets. Responsible for the overall management and administration of the fixed asset activity and related depreciation. This position performs work activities to support North America accounting. The position also ensures compliance with United States Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements by developing, maintaining and testing documentation and processes around the accounting activities and controls.
The Role
This position has been designated as hybrid in India.
Main Responsibilities
Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting entries for fixed assets
Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations in Blackline
Perform monthly and quarterly variances analysis
Perform asset creation, retirements, and transfers
Perform project terminations
Work SAP project tickets
Prepare quarterly capitalized interest rate and execute capitalized interest application in SAP
Assist team with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as requested
Maintain internal control integrity and related SOX documentation and compliance
Prepares quarterly reports for SEC reporting and PBC requests from our external auditors
Document all procedures
Other duties as assigned
What We Look for in a Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and relevant experience required; 4+ years of related experience
Master’s degree preferred; 2+ years related experience
Excellent communication skills -verbal and written
Ability to multitask by working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Excellent time management skills with the ability and willingness to meet deadlines imposed by monthly close cycles and quarterly disclosure requests
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, including SAP, Blackline and Business Objects
Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and PowerBI
Proven track record of achieving professional goals successfully
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
