Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Testing Head specializing in Distribution Transformers and Power Transformers. The Testing Head will oversee and manage testing operations, ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, and assess the functionality of transformers. Key responsibilities include leading a team, coordinating business relationships, managing logistical aspects of operations, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. This dynamic role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational excellence.

Position Title: Testing Head – Transformer Testing Department

Salary- 10-12 LPA

Location- Dankeenganj | Mirzapur

Job Purpose

To lead and manage all routine, type, special, and pre-dispatch testing activities for Distribution Transformers and Power Transformers up to 20 MVA ratings, ensuring compliance with IS, IEC, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Testing Operations Management

• Lead complete transformer testing activities for:
• Distribution Transformers
• Power Transformers up to 20 MVA
• Ensure timely execution of:
• Routine Tests
• Type Tests
• Special Tests
• FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)
• Customer Inspection Activities
• Monitor testing schedules as per production and dispatch plans.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.

2. Routine Testing Activities

Conduct and supervise:

• Ratio Test
• Vector Group Verification
• Winding Resistance Test
• Magnetic Balance Test
• IR Value / Megger Test
• HV Test
• Induced Voltage Test
• No Load Loss & Current Test
• Load Loss & Impedance Test
• Oil BDV Testing
• Functional and Protection Checks

3. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with:
• IS 2026
• IS 1180
• IEC Standards
• Customer Technical Specifications
• Maintain testing records, protocols, and quality documentation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for NCR closure and corrective actions.
• Ensure all transformers meet required efficiency and performance standards.

4. Team Management

• Lead testing engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Allocate manpower based on production priorities.
• Conduct technical training for testing staff.
• Ensure discipline, safety, and productivity in testing area.

5. Customer & Third-Party Inspection

• Coordinate with customers, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
• Handle inspection calls and test demonstrations.
• Prepare and submit test reports and compliance documents.
• Support customer audits and technical clarifications.

6. Equipment & Laboratory Management

• Ensure proper upkeep of:
• HT Test Benches
• CT/PT Systems
• Transformer Testing Panels
• Measuring Instruments
• Oil Testing Equipment
• Maintain calibration validity of all instruments.
• Coordinate AMC/service activities for testing equipment.

7. Safety & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure strict implementation of electrical safety practices.
• Maintain safe operation during HV and induced testing.
• Ensure PPE compliance and safety training.
• Follow statutory and plant safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

• B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Additional certification in transformer testing preferred
• 8–15 years experience in transformer manufacturing/testing
• Strong experience in testing of Distribution & Power Transformers 

Required Technical Skills

• Knowledge of transformer testing procedures
• Understanding of IS/IEC standards
• Experience in handling testing instruments
• Knowledge of transformer losses and efficiency calculations
• Root cause analysis of testing failures
• Understanding of customer inspection requirements
