Position Summary

The Factory Head will be responsible for leading the complete operations of the garment manufacturing unit at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The role will cover production, planning, quality, cost control, manpower productivity, compliance, safety, maintenance, stores, finishing, packing, dispatch, and overall factory performance.

The incumbent will be expected to run the factory as an independent business unit with strong focus on timely delivery, product quality, cost efficiency, discipline, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Factory Operations

• Lead day-to-day factory operations across cutting, stitching, finishing, packing, quality, stores, maintenance, dispatch, and support functions.
• Ensure smooth functioning of all departments with clear targets, ownership, and accountability.
• Drive daily, weekly, and monthly reviews to monitor performance and resolve issues.
• Build a disciplined, productive, and execution-focused work culture.

2. Production & Delivery

• Ensure production is executed as per plan, timelines, and business priorities.
• Monitor daily production output and take corrective action for delays or deviations.
• Ensure proper line loading, manpower deployment, machine utilization, and production sequencing.
• Control WIP, pending orders, bottlenecks, and dispatch timelines.
• Ensure on-time delivery without compromising quality.

3. Quality Management

• Own end-to-end quality performance of the factory.
• Ensure quality checks at cutting, stitching, finishing, packing, and final inspection stages.
• Reduce rejection, rework, alteration, repair, and customer complaints.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for recurring quality issues.
• Ensure dispatch only after proper quality clearance.

4. Productivity & Cost Control

• Improve line efficiency, operator productivity, machine utilization, and overall output.
• Monitor productivity by line, operator, style, and department.
• Control manpower cost, overtime cost, wastage, utilities, maintenance, and other factory expenses.
• Reduce fabric, trims, consumables, and packaging wastage.
• Implement productivity improvement and cost-saving initiatives.

5. Manpower Management

• Lead workers, supervisors, line in-charges, department heads, quality, stores, maintenance, and support teams.
• Ensure manpower planning is aligned with production requirements.
• Maintain discipline, attendance, punctuality, workplace behaviour, and adherence to factory rules.
• Handle grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary matters in coordination with HR.
• Drive training, skill development, and second-line leadership development.

6. Compliance, Safety & Administration

• Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, factory laws, statutory requirements, safety norms, and company policies.
• Maintain statutory records, licenses, registers, attendance, wage, overtime, contractor, and safety documentation.
• Ensure audit readiness at all times.
• Drive safety, fire, electrical, machine safety, housekeeping, hygiene, PPE usage, emergency preparedness, and 5S standards.
• Maintain a safe, compliant, clean, and productive factory environment.

7. Maintenance, Stores & Dispatch

• Ensure preventive maintenance of machines, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Reduce machine breakdowns and production downtime.
• Oversee material receipt, storage, issue, tracking, reconciliation, and control.
• Prevent material wastage, pilferage, damage, and misuse.
• Ensure finishing, packing, documentation, and dispatch happen as per plan.

8. Systems & Coordination

• Implement SOPs and process controls across production, quality, maintenance, stores, dispatch, and reporting.
• Use MIS, dashboards, and data for decision-making.
• Coordinate closely with Head Office teams including Planning, Merchandising, Sourcing, Quality, HR, Finance, Warehouse, and Supply Chain.
• Escalate risks, delays, and bottlenecks on time with clear action plans.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

Graduate / Diploma in Textile Technology, Garment Manufacturing, Apparel Production, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or related field. MBA / PG Diploma in Operations or Manufacturing will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 15–20 years of experience in apparel / garment manufacturing or factory operations.
• Minimum 5–8 years in a senior factory leadership role.
• Experience in women’s wear, ethnic wear, woven garments, or fashion apparel preferred.
• Strong exposure to production planning, quality, manpower management, compliance, costing, and factory operations.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of cutting, stitching, finishing, packing, dispatch, quality, maintenance, and stores.
• Knowledge of production planning, line balancing, SMV / SAM, efficiency, productivity, and skill matrix.
• Strong understanding of labour laws, factory compliance, safety, and statutory requirements.
• Ability to manage large teams and drive discipline.
• Strong problem-solving, execution, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• High integrity, maturity, confidentiality, and ownership.
