Position Summary

The Teaching Assistant (TA) plays a vital supporting role in delivering a high-quality learning experience for students. Working closely with the course instructor, the TA assists in lesson preparation, administrative duties, student evaluation, and ensuring the classroom environment is equipped with the necessary technological resources. This role demands a detail-oriented, responsible, and proactive individual who can manage both academic and administrative responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lesson Preparation Assistance

• Collaborate with the course instructor to plan, prepare, and organize lesson materials prior to each class.
• Research supplementary content, case studies, and examples to enrich lecture content.
• Assist in developing presentation slides, handouts, and reference materials as required.
• Review and proofread instructional content for accuracy and clarity before distribution.

2. Attendance Management

• Take and maintain accurate attendance records for every class session.
• Update and manage attendance registers in a timely and consistent manner.
• Follow up on student absences and escalate chronic non-attendance to the faculty member.
• Generate attendance reports and summaries as requested by the instructor or administration.

3. Marks Entry on ERP System

• Accurately upload student marks, scores, and grades onto the institution’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
• Ensure timely and error-free entry of all assessment-related data as per institutional deadlines.
• Cross-verify uploaded data against original mark sheets to avoid discrepancies.
• Coordinate with the course instructor for any mark corrections or grade adjustments.

4. Assignment Checking & Marks Updation

• Review, check, and evaluate student assignments in accordance with the marking rubric provided by the instructor.
• Provide constructive written feedback on assignments to support student improvement.
• Accurately update and maintain assignment marks in the grade register and ERP system.
• Return evaluated assignments within a reasonable and agreed-upon timeframe.

5. IT & Classroom Technology Coordination

• Coordinate with the IT department before each class to ensure all technical equipment (projectors, computers, audio-visual tools, smart boards) is fully functional.
• Set up and test presentation software, e-learning platforms, and any digital tools required for the session.
• Report technical issues promptly and arrange for timely resolution to avoid classroom disruptions.
• Maintain a pre-class technology checklist to ensure consistent readiness.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in the relevant subject area; Master’s degree preferred.
• Enrolled in or recently completed a postgraduate or research program is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and academic management platforms.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Basic understanding of audio-visual and classroom IT equipment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student academic records.

Working Conditions

• The TA is expected to be present on campus for all scheduled classes and may be required to attend faculty meetings.
• Must be available for pre-class setup at least 15–20 minutes before each session.
• Work hours are aligned with the course timetable and may include additional hours during examination periods.
