Marketing Analyst – Marketing Intelligence Full Time

Position Overview:

The Business Analyst will serve as the central analytics and intelligence function within the marketing organization, responsible for transforming raw internal and external data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.

The role involves market intelligence development, advanced data analysis, 360⁰ competitive benchmarking, pricing, trade analysis, and strategic business reporting to support senior leadership in identifying growth opportunities and optimizing market performance. Core objective to increase market share, increase demand in new plus existing markets.

The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, business development, CRM, manufacturing, supply chain and finance teams to ensure data-driven planning and performance monitoring across markets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Market Intelligence & Industry Analysis

Develop a comprehensive market intelligence framework to track and interpret trends affecting the cement and construction ecosystem.

• Monitoring macroeconomic indicators, infrastructure investments, and construction sector activity impacting cement demand.
• Tracking regional market performance, capacity utilization, and demand growth patterns across districts and states.
• Building structured databases on competitor capacities, plant expansions, distribution networks, and product portfolios.
• Conducting periodic industry benchmarking studies to evaluate the company’s market position relative to competitors.
• Preparing quarterly/half yearly industry outlook reports highlighting emerging market opportunities and risks.

2. Sales & Market Performance Analytics

Analyze sales and market data to identify trends, opportunities, and operational gaps.

Activities include:

• Evaluating sales performance across products, regions, dealer networks, and market segments.
• Identifying high-growth and underperforming markets through trend analysis and market penetration studies.
• Developing analytical models to track dealer productivity and distribution efficiency.
• Conducting variance analysis between planned targets and actual performance.
• Supporting regional leadership with actionable insights to improve market coverage and sales effectiveness.

3. Pricing Intelligence & Strategy Analytics

The Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting pricing strategy through detailed data analysis and market intelligence.

• Track and maintain a regional pricing intelligence database covering competitor prices across districts and key markets.
• Analyze price movement trends across markets, identifying patterns linked to supply, demand, infrastructure activity, and competitor strategies.
• Evaluate the impact of price changes on sales volumes, dealer behaviour, sub-dealer sentiment, influencer reaction on purchase providing insights to support pricing decisions.
• Conduct price benchmarking studies across competitors, identifying pricing gaps and potential opportunities for premium or tactical pricing strategies.
• Support leadership in designing region-specific pricing strategies based on market competitiveness, logistics costs, dealer margins, and customer segments.
• Monitor the relationship between price positioning and brand perception in the trade and sub-dealer/Builder/influencer ecosystem.

4. Trade & Channel Performance Analysis

The Business Analyst will analyze the effectiveness and performance of the company’s trade ecosystem including dealers, distributors, and retail networks.

• Evaluate dealer productivity metrics such as sales volume per dealer, growth trends, and contribution to regional sales.
• Analyze trade scheme effectiveness, including incentives, promotional programs, and dealer engagement initiatives.
• Monitor distribution network efficiency, identifying markets with inadequate dealer coverage or low penetration.
• Assess trade margin structures and incentive programs, benchmarking them against competitor offerings.
• Identify high-potential dealers and underperforming trade partners, supporting the sales team in optimizing the dealer network.
• Analyze the relationship between dealer expansion, retail coverage, and market growth to support channel strategy.

5. Market Share Growth Strategy Analytics

The Business Analyst will support leadership in identifying and developing strategies to expand market share in key regions and districts.

• Conduct district-wise market share analysis comparing company performance with major competitors.
• Identify high-potential growth markets where the company can gain share through focused sales, distribution expansion, or marketing initiatives.
• Analyze competitor strengths and weaknesses across markets, including distribution coverage, dealer relationships, product positioning, and pricing strategy.
• Develop data-driven market penetration strategies targeting key customer segments such as contractors, builders, and retail dealers.
• Track the impact of marketing initiatives and sales campaigns on market share movement.
• Provide leadership with strategic recommendations to improve competitive positioning in priority markets.

6. Pricing & Competitive Intelligence

Provide analytical support for pricing decisions and competitive positioning.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring competitor pricing trends across markets.
• Evaluating price elasticity and impact of pricing changes on sales volumes.
• Analyzing dealer margins, trade schemes, and promotional programs across competitors.
• Preparing strategic pricing intelligence reports to support leadership decisions.

7. Data Management & Business Reporting

Ensure availability of accurate, structured, and actionable data across the marketing organization.

Key responsibilities:

• Consolidating data from ERP systems, CRM platforms, sales reports, and market intelligence sources.
• Designing automated dashboards and visualization tools using platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Standardizing reporting formats for regional and national business reviews.
• Supporting management review meetings with structured analytical presentations.

8. Strategic Decision Support

Act as a strategic partner to senior management by providing analytical insights that guide business decisions.

Responsibilities include:

• Identifying new market opportunities and growth clusters.
• Evaluating potential market entry strategies for new territories.
• Supporting product launch decisions with data analysis and demand projections.
• Conducting scenario analysis and business impact assessments for strategic initiatives.

Work Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in trade margin structure building, research analysis, directly handling pricing, EBITDA management, demand surge analysis, competition tracking, high volume data driven decision making, knowledge of ERP, CRM, product management & PLC roadmap, customer philosophy understanding, etc.
• Person with work experience in FMCG, Consulting firms, Consumer Durables, Banking, is preferred.

Educational Qualification:

• B.Tech / B.E. (Engineering) or Commerce (Grade A) background + MBA full time in Marketing / Business Analytics / Strategy; All from Tier 1 or Tier 2 institutes. Or Masters in Statistics / Economics / Data Analytics with strong business analytics exposure.
