Project Manager – Colo to Public Cloud Migration

Function: Cloud Operations / Migration Program
Role Type: Individual Contributor (Execution-Focused)

Role Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for executing defined scopes within the colocation to public cloud migration program. Project Managers may be assigned to customer-facing migration waves or to critical preparatory and enablement workstreams, such as cloud landing zone buildout, deployment automation, or infrastructure decommissioning.

All assignments operate under a single program governance, reporting, and tracking framework and require disciplined execution, cross-team coordination, and strong risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Ownership

• Own end-to-end delivery of assigned scope, including:
• A customer migration wave (set of customers migrating together), or
• A core enablement workstream critical to migration success (landing zone, automation, decommissioning)
• Build and manage detailed project plans, dependencies, milestones, and delivery timelines
• Proactively manage risks, issues, assumptions, and decision tracking

Stakeholder & Team Coordination

• For customer-facing wave assignments:
• Act as the primary PM for assigned customers
• Coordinate with Customer Success, Professional Services, Managed Services, or Partners
• For enablement workstreams:
• Coordinate across Cloud Ops, Platform Engineering, Security, Network, Automation, and Product teams
• Ensure deliverables meet readiness criteria for downstream migration waves

Governance & Reporting

• Adhere strictly to the program’s reporting and execution framework
• Provide consistent, accurate status, dependency, and risk reporting
• Escalate cross-workstream impacts that could affect customer migration timelines
• Contribute to continuous improvement and readiness-to-execution transition efforts

Required Qualifications (All PMs)

• 5+ years of project management experience in infrastructure, cloud, or enterprise IT initiatives
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-team delivery with dependencies
• Strong execution discipline, reporting rigor, and risk management capability
• Experience working with global teams and customers across regions

Additional Required Capabilities for PMs Assigned to Landing Zone & Automation Workstreams

PMs assigned to Landing Zone and Automation must demonstrate:

• Strong technical literacy in cloud platforms and platform engineering concepts
• Experience supporting or managing large-scale infrastructure build or decommissioning efforts
• Cloud migration program experience (Azure preferred)
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple engineering teams or PODs
• Strong executive and senior‑stakeholder communication skills
• Understanding of SDLC, release management, and deployment governance
• Experience managing change and risk in production environments
• Financial and vendor coordination experience (capacity, tooling, or services)

Certifications (Desired)

• Azure Fundamentals (or equivalent cloud foundations)
• Project or Program Management credential (PMP, PRINCE2, PgMP)
• Agile or Hybrid Delivery certification
