THE CAREER OPPORTUNTY

A promising career opportunity in CXO/senior leadership level P&L role as “Chief Business Officer” (SBU Level)”, leading Pan-India team, overseeing strategy, sales, business development, marketing, commercial control of a mid-sized SBU; and reporting to CEO of this SBU, which is now on the threshold of quantum leap in coming years. The position offers scope to play a major role in the success of the SBU as much as enhancing prospects for own professional/leadership development and growth.

This role is meant for a senior professional with strong back ground in B2C business development/marketing & sales in building material/building products to join the consumer focussed building products manufacturing division of a well-established, large, profitable, and professionally managed, Mumbai head-quartered company, part of a large conglomerate, known for good corporate governance, a successful track-record and robust reputation of several decades, which is one of the leading building materials manufacturing organisations for B2B and B2C segments, with well-established Brands, multiple geographically spread manufacturing plants, and an efficient pan-India marketing network, with sizeable annual Revenue turnover. The company’s B2C SBU is now on threshold of a major growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Designation: Chief Business Officer – Building Products SBU

Location: Mumbai

Reporting to: CEO/MD

Qualification: Graduate with good academic record, with an MBA from well-known business school.

Experience: Around 18 to 25 years of strategic marketing/sales/business development experience, including last 5 years in Pan-India leadership role in well-reputed and systems driven companies in the building products industry in categories like construction chemicals, waterproofing, adhesives, wall/floor tiles, dry-mix mortar, cement, white-cement, wall-putty, paints, ceramic, premium bath-fittings, kitchen fittings, electrical products, etc. Good experience and deep knowledge of market dynamics of the building products market is necessary.

Strong B2C Trade Marketing, Channel Sales/Retail Sales, Developing and Managing Trade Network of Dealers/Channel Partners, and Established Trade Relationships on Pan-India will be advantageous. Experience in building and leading Marketing & Sales teams in geographically well-spread, multiple regions set-up, preferably on national level will be useful.

Excellent team leadership, communication, relationship building, and people skills with pleasing personality are essential.

Selected candidate will be suitably designated according to the expertise and seniority level. Candidates with somewhat lesser breadth and depth of leadership experience, but having well-developed sales & marketing expertise and excellent track-record of growing business may also be considered for Deputy Business Head’s role, to be groomed for the Business Head role.

Role: A senior leadership role as Chief Business Officer (SBU Business Head) with Pan-India P&L responsibility for strategy, marketing, sales, business development, and commercial control of the B2C SBU in Building Products; and gain market-share, profitably grow revenue, and achieve top-line and bottom-line goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• To Head and be responsible for SBU’s (division’s) business P&L marketing, sales, and business development.
• Strategizing, planning, and achieve business results.
• Review, finetune, deploy, and implement business strategy.
• Market research, market segmentation, positioning; develop and implement marketing, promotion, and sales strategies.
• Product innovation, go-to-market strategy, and oversee implementation of action plan; activate channel and field/trade marketing initiatives.
• Pricing, discounting, and incentive policies and processes for trade partners.
• Channel Sales/ Channel development & management: Expand/strengthen channel partners network, and deepen dealers/distribution relations.
• Review and build/refine sales and trade marketing systems and processes; monitor and discipline marketing & sales team to adhere to the defined processes and systematic way of functioning.
• Review sales and commercial organisation, and build/strengthen regional and state sales teams across the country.
• Plan, develop, and implement trade sales and field marketing initiatives and budget.
• Sales enablement: Training of trade partner; influencers group like architects, and regional sales team across the country – in product knowledge/special features, benefits, sales techniques, CRM.
• Sales Operations – Lead, guide, and monitor regional/states sales teams; sales planning; oversea sales operations; help sales team achieve sales targets; and gain market share.
• Customer Service – Design and implement robust systems for handling trade/customers complaints and grievances redressal, customer feedback, and improve NPS.
• Commercial Management and Credit Control – implement effective commercial management policies and processes, and monitor and exercise tight control on stocks, trade and customers receivables to minimise blocking of working capital.
• Market intelligence, competitors’ activities, and fine-tune marketing & sales initiatives and tactics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders – Internal: Corporate leadership, HR, finance; division’s leadership, marketing, R&D, manufacturing, supply chain; and External: Trade partners, major customers, and media agencies.
