Job Description
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with deep expertise in Ignition SCADA, MES implementation, industrial connectivity, and cloud integration (Azure). The ideal candidate will lead digital transformation projects on the shop floor, integrating automation systems with enterprise platforms to enable traceability, OEE, production analytics, and cloud-based insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead design and implementation of SCADA systems using Ignition for manufacturing operations.
- Deploy and maintain Ignition MES solutions for production tracking, genealogy, traceability, downtime, SPC, and OEE.
- Establish data collection and integration from PLCs, sensors, HMIs, and machines across the shopfloor.
- Configure and manage Industrial Data Historians (e.g., Ignition Tag Historian, PI System).
- Develop and maintain connectivity bridges between on-prem Ignition and Azure cloud services (e.g., Azure IoT Hub, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL).
- Enable barcode/RFID/QR based tracking systems integrated with MES for genealogy and WIP traceability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (IT, OT, Quality, Production) for system rollouts and troubleshooting.
- Apply ISA-95 and ISA-88 standards to structure MES architectures and process control models.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations for operators and managers to monitor real-time KPIs and quality metrics.
- Support cybersecurity best practices in industrial networks and data transmission layers.
- Document functional designs, SOPs, and training materials for end users and administrators.
Technical Skills
Technical Skills Required:
- Ignition SCADA (Gateway configuration, Tag Historian, Perspective, MQTT modules)
- MES Platforms: Custom MES using Ignition, Sepasoft, or other MES tools
- PLC/SCADA integration: Siemens, Rockwell, Modbus, OPC UA/DA
- Cloud Platforms: Azure IoT Hub, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure AD
- Databases: SQL Server, MySQL, Azure SQL, NoSQL (optional)
- Protocols: OPC UA, MQTT, REST API, Modbus TCP, BACnet
- Industrial Networking: VLAN, Firewalls, VPNs, Remote Access
- ISA Standards: ISA-95 (Enterprise-Control System Integration), ISA-88 (Batch Control)
- Scripting: Python, JavaScript (Ignition Perspective/Vision scripting)
Certifications
Ignition Core Or Gold Certification (Preferred)
Preferred Qualification & Soft skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation)
- Ignition Core or Gold Certification (Preferred)
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Azure IoT certification
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 frameworks and Smart Factory concepts
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and leadership skills for cross-team collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
- Analytical problem solver with hands-on shop floor experience
