Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for leading and managing all manufacturing and operational activities of the pharmaceutical business. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, achievement of production targets, operational excellence, quality standards, cost optimization, and continuous business growth.
The COO will oversee Manufacturing, Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering & Maintenance, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Regulatory Compliance, EHS, and Project Execution.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations
* Lead end-to-end pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
* Ensure achievement of production plans, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
* Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with GMP, WHO-GMP, EU-GMP, USFDA, MHRA, and other applicable regulations.
* Support successful regulatory inspections and customer audits.
* Maintain strong quality culture across the organization.
* Ensure adherence to SOPs, validation, qualification, and documentation practices.
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives.
* Participate in business planning, budgeting, and expansion projects.
* Drive operational excellence and digital transformation initiatives.
* Support new product launches and technology transfers.
Supply Chain & Planning
* Oversee procurement, inventory management, production planning, and logistics.
* Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
* Optimize inventory levels and working capital.
Engineering & Projects
* Lead plant engineering, utilities, maintenance, and capital projects.
* Ensure preventive maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
* Manage facility expansion and modernization projects.
Financial Management
* Develop and manage operational budgets.
* Monitor manufacturing costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
* Improve profitability through process optimization and resource utilization.
People Leadership
* Build and develop high-performing teams.
* Establish performance management systems and succession planning.
* Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
EHS & Sustainability
* Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
* Promote safe workplace practices and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
Education
* B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc / M.Sc / B.Tech / M.Tech
* MBA (Operations) preferred
Experience
* 15–25 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
* Minimum 5–10 years in a senior leadership role.
* Experience in Sterile Manufacturing, IV Fluids, Injectables, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical Formulations preferred.
