Handle procurement activities related to indigenous petcoke, imported gypsum, imported limestone and transportation of bulk commodities (coal, petcoke, gypsum) to serve 12 integrated plants, 12 grinding units and 6 bulk terminals under functional guidance of FH for uninterrupted plant operation by identifying and using synergies through standardization and rationalization of activities.

Also dealing with handling agents, inspection agencies and coordination with units for all related matters Identification & development of new vendors, handling agents, inspection agencies for efficiency improvement and cost optimization.

Job Context

The Cement Business of Aditya Birla Group is the largest in the country. The grey cement business has total 35 integrated manufacturing locations, 32 grinding units and 10 Bulk cement terminals in India.

Infrastructure is one of the focus areas for Indian economy. This has attracted many Cement majors to India. ABG too recognized this fact, and decided to have ambitious growth plans for its cement business. This growth will come from organic as well as inorganic forays.

Major Challenges

• With the increase in Cement and Clinker capacity from 60.15 Million Tons to 100 Million Tons by 2020.
• Dealing with n number of associates like 12 integrated plants, 2 grinding units, 4 – 5 countries, 10 Indian ports, 3 inspection agencies, 10 – 15 Petcoke suppliers, 10-15 Gypsum/Limestone suppliers & transporters etc.
• Smooth coordination, communication with remotely located and multi-location team of HOD & SH – Materials at plants and maintaining smooth and quality supplies of material.
• Procurement of Petcoke, Imported Gypsum, Chemical Gypsum and Imported Lime Stone has also increased in line with the increase in capacity and number of operating plants.
• Cement industry has started using petcoke in a big way and UltraTech is one of the largest consumers of Petcoke in India with part replacement of imported coal and indigenous coal. The Job Position is fully involved in all the activities of procurement of Petcoke , Inventory management , smooth operation & requirement planning etc.
• The Job Position is required to handle Rate Contracts for Chemical Gypsum with multiple vendors and also handle import of gypsum from Oman, Iran, Thailand etc.
• Due to low availability of quality limestone at GCW and RDCW plants.The Job Position is required to handle such imports by identifying new sources / origins of imported limestone based on cost economics.
• The Job Position is required to coordinate with private sector in petroleum products, like FO, HSD, HFHSD, Lubricants etc. from number of Public and Private sector Petroleum companies by entering in to Aditya Birla Group level MOUs.
• With the advancement of IT, traditional procurement methods are being replaced by modern practices. This section Identified IT tools like Reverse Auction for procurement of Imported Gypsum and transportation of bulk commodities (coal, Petcoke, Gypsum). The Job Position is required to coordinate with service providers, units, vendors etc. for smooth Reverse Auction activities and ensuring smooth deliveries in entire Supply Chain Management.
• With the increase of import of coal & petcoke in India, the port activities have also increased substantially with the increase in service providers like handling agents, inspection agencies etc. to ensure timely supply of materials to plants.

The job position is required to coordinate through the entire supply chain of growing business requirements.

KRA1 Business Delivery: Cost effective procurement of Raw Materials (like Limestone, gypsum, Bauxite & iron ore), Petcoke, FO, HSD, etc. & arrangement of Inward Logistics to facilitate un-interrupted operation at all units. Establishing benchmarking tools in the area of procurement, specifications. a) Benchmarking of Petcoke procurement –

i) Benchmarking of petcoke prices with peers

ii) Benchmarking of petcoke prices with international prices

“b) Arrangement of economized, optimized, uninterrupted inward logistics of petcoke and coal from all refineries and all ports.

i) Ensure 3rd party at all load ports for imported Petcoke, gypsum, sweetener.

ii) Transit shortage / moisture losses – Petcoke (Imported, domestic), – second level monitoring / data compilation / analysis / actionable. Monthly reco. On wet and dry basis. by 10th, 15th and 20th of every month “

c) Inventory of I Imported Petcoke and Indigenous Petcoke – Daily moving average for PY V/s. Daily moving avg. Imported Petcoke ( 76 Cr. Rs./1.00 LMT )and Indigenous Petcoke ( 153 Cr. Rs./2.16 LMT) , Total = 229 Cr. Rs./3.16 LMT

• RA of Transportation (SoP) – decentralization, implementation at unit, unit visit, hand – holding , ensuring success”
