Role Description The Drayage Expert is a full-time, on-site role based in Manteca, CA. This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing container drayage operations, including scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, monitoring container status, and ensuring compliance with port and terminal requirements. The Drayage Expert will communicate daily with carriers, dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to confirm appointments, resolve issues, and provide shipment updates. They will track and manage documentation such as bills of lading, delivery receipts, and terminal releases, while closely monitoring demurrage and detention to avoid unnecessary costs. The role also involves analyzing routes and transit times, identifying process improvements, and supporting the wider operations team with accurate reporting and data entry.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of drayage operations, port and rail terminals, container movements, and related documentation.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, or freight forwarding, preferably in an import/export or intermodal environment.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), port/terminal portals, and common office software (e.g., Excel, email, shared databases).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage time-sensitive issues and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to work on-site in Manteca, CA, with a consistent full-time schedule, including occasional extended hours as needed.
• Understanding of basic regulatory requirements related to trucking and ports (e.g., hours of service, terminal access, safety rules).
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in logistics, supply chain, or transportation are a plus.
• Previous experience in a similar drayage, dispatch, or operations coordinator role is strongly preferred.
