Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Firmware Test Engineer with 3+ years of experience in firmware validation and platform testing within CPU/GPU systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in low-level firmware technologies, platform interfaces, and industry-standard protocols used in modern server, client, or embedded computing environments.

This role involves validating firmware functionality, developing automated test strategies, debugging platform-level issues, and collaborating with cross-functional hardware, BIOS, silicon, and software teams to ensure high-quality product releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute firmware validation and testing strategies for CPU/GPU platforms.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and stress testing for firmware components and platform interfaces.
• Validate and debug firmware features related to:
• PCIe
• ACPI
• UEFI/BIOS
• SMBIOS
• JEDEC standards
• IPMI
• Redfish
• Validate common PC/server interface standards including:
• Ethernet
• SATA
• PCIe
• USB
• DDR
• NVMe
• Analyze firmware logs, hardware traces, crash dumps, and debug data to identify root causes of platform issues.
• Collaborate with BIOS, silicon, hardware design, OS, and driver teams to resolve defects and improve platform stability.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks, test scripts, and validation tools using Python, Shell scripting, or similar languages.
• Execute platform bring-up, firmware upgrades, and interoperability testing across different hardware configurations.
• Participate in requirement reviews, test planning, defect tracking, and release sign-offs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and platform specifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in firmware testing, platform validation, or BIOS/UEFI validation.
• Strong understanding of CPU/GPU architecture and platform firmware concepts.
• Experience with:
• PCIe architecture and validation
• ACPI tables and power management
• UEFI/BIOS testing
• SMBIOS structures
• JEDEC memory standards
• IPMI and Redfish management protocols
• Knowledge of server/client platform technologies and PC interface standards:
• Ethernet
• SATA
• USB
• DDR
• NVMe
• Familiarity with firmware debugging tools, protocol analyzers, and hardware diagnostic tools.
• Experience in scripting/automation using Python, Shell, or Perl.
• Good understanding of Linux and/or Windows operating environments.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with server platform validation or data center hardware.
• Knowledge of BMC firmware and out-of-band management.
• Familiarity with compliance and interoperability testing.
• Exposure to silicon validation or board bring-up activities.
• Experience working with automated test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GPU platform validation.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud server platforms.
• Familiarity with firmware security validation and secure boot concepts.
