Job Overview

Eastern Road Carriers Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee and manage day-to-day transport operations. The candidate will be responsible for handling a fleet of approximately 20–25 vehicles initially, ensuring smooth operations, timely maintenance, driver coordination, and efficient execution of transport activities.

This role is part of a new operational initiative within the company: one focused on bringing structure, technology, and scalability to fleet management. We are looking for someone who is not only operationally strong but also tech-savvy, eager to learn new tools and systems, and excited about growing with a company that is investing heavily in its next phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and movement of the company fleet
• Supervise and coordinate drivers, dispatch schedules, and vehicle allocation
• Ensure regular vehicle servicing, maintenance, fitness, permits, and insurance compliance
• Monitor fuel consumption, trip efficiency, and operational performance
• Handle traffic disputes, challans, breakdowns, and emergencies when required
• Maintain proper operational records and documentation
• Coordinate with vendors, workshops, transport authorities, and clients as needed
• Improve fleet utilization and support scaling of transport operations
• Ensure smooth communication between office operations and field teams
• Adopt and contribute to digital tools, GPS platforms, and fleet management systems as the company scales

Candidate Requirements

• Prior experience in fleet management, transport operations, or logistics
• Ability to independently manage 20–25 commercial vehicles
• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transport compliance
• Strong coordination, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work under operational pressure and manage on-ground situations efficiently
• Comfortable with technology: working knowledge of Excel, GPS tracking systems, Transport Management Systems (TMS), and a willingness to learn and adopt new software tools is essential
• A learning mindset and the drive to grow alongside a fast-expanding operation

Preferred Profile

• Experience working in a transport or logistics company
• Practical understanding of road transport operations and driver management
• Ability to take ownership and manage operations responsibly
• Tech-forward approach: comfortable using digital tools and open to building new processes from the ground up
• Candidates who are proactive, adaptable, and excited about being part of a growing venture will be strongly preferred

First 3 Months

• Understand company operations, fleet systems, and transport workflow
• Take over the day-to-day coordination of vehicles and drivers
• Build familiarity with routes, operational processes, vendors, and maintenance schedules
• Streamline communication between field operations and office teams

Within 6 Months

• Independently manage fleet operations and dispatch coordination
• Improve vehicle utilization, reporting, and operational efficiency
• Handle a larger scale of fleet activity and support operational expansion
• Take ownership of operational planning and fleet management processes

Compensation

Competitive base salary based on experience and operational capability, with performance-based incentives tied to fleet efficiency, operational targets, and overall execution. Travel expenses will be covered by the company. We reward results and commit to growing compensation alongside the role as the operation scales.
