Job Description (JD) – General Duty Assistant (GDA) – Aged Care Facility
Job Title: General Duty Assistant (GDA) / Caregiver
Department: Resident Care Services
Location: Aged Care Facility / Senior Living Center
Job Summary
The General Duty Assistant (GDA) is responsible for providing compassionate, safe, and dignified care to elderly residents. The role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, maintaining hygiene and comfort, supporting mobility, monitoring basic health conditions, and ensuring a clean and safe environment under the supervision of nursing staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesResident Care
- Assist residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Support residents with feeding and hydration as per care plans.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, walking, and wheelchair movement.
- Help bedridden residents with positioning and turning to prevent pressure sores.
- Ensure resident comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being at all times.
Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms, beds, wheelchairs, and common areas.
- Change bed linens and assist with laundry as required.
- Follow infection control protocols and hand hygiene practices.
- Assist in biomedical waste disposal according to facility guidelines.
- Ensure a safe environment and prevent accidents or falls.
Emotional & Social Support
- Provide companionship and emotional support to elderly residents.
- Encourage participation in recreational and social activities.
- Assist residents in maintaining communication with family members.
- Treat all residents with patience, respect, and empathy.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily care records and activity logs.
- Report resident concerns and incidents to the nursing team.
- Participate in shift handovers and care coordination meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10th/12th Pass.
- GDA (General Duty Assistant) / Caregiver / Patient Care Assistant certification preferred.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts (Day/Night).
- Residential aged care facility environment.
Pay: ₹8,000.00 – ₹10,000.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
