Hiring for Retail Head for leading Book Store Chain
Location: Bangalore / HQ
CTC: Up to ₹30 LPA
Role Objective
To lead and build the end-to-end retail function, including store setup, operations,
expansion, and profitability, ensuring a seamless and consistent customer experience across
all retail formats.
Key Responsibilities
1. Retail Strategy & Expansion
Define and execute the overall retail strategy aligned with business goals
Lead store expansion, including new store identification, feasibility, and rollout
Drive store formats, layouts, and customer experience frameworks
Identify growth opportunities across cities and markets
2. Store Setup & Launch
Own end-to-end store setup – site selection, design, fit-outs, and launch readiness
Coordinate with vendors, landlords, contractors, and internal teams
Ensure stores are launched on time, within budget, and as per brand standards
Standardize SOPs for new store rollouts
3. Retail Operations Management
Oversee day-to-day store operations across all locations
Ensure adherence to SOPs, processes, and service standards
Monitor store performance (sales, footfall, conversion, ATV, etc.)
Drive operational efficiency and consistency across stores
4. P&L Ownership & Performance
Own and drive store-level and overall retail P&L
Monitor revenue, margins, costs, and profitability
Optimize store productivity, staffing costs, and operational expenses
Drive initiatives to improve sales per sq. ft. and store profitability
5. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Build and lead store and regional teams
Drive hiring, training, and performance management
Develop store managers and leadership pipeline
Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and customer-first mindset
6. Merchandising & Customer Experience
Work closely with merchandising teams for assortment planning and availability
Ensure strong visual merchandising and in-store experience
Drive customer engagement initiatives and in-store activations
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, finance, and buying teams
Ensure alignment on inventory, promotions, and campaigns
Drive seamless coordination between offline and online channels
8. Process & Automation
Implement and improve retail systems, MIS, and reporting dashboards
Drive data-driven decision making across store operations
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong retail operations & expansion experience
Proven experience in store setup & rollout
Strong P&L management and business acumen
Excellent team leadership and stakeholder management
Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills
Customer-centric approach with focus on store experience
Preferred Experience
10–15 years in retail operations / expansion / store management
Experience in books, lifestyle, apparel, or large-format retail chains
Strong exposure to multi-store management and scaling retail business
