Buyer – Indirect Procurement

We are seeking an experienced SCM – Indirect Procurement Buyer with expertise in the Equipment

and MRO Category for our Lithium Ion Gigafactory Greenfield Project. This is a techno-commercial

role focused on high-value Capex and Opex procurement and managing the commercial relationship with Chinese equipment vendors. You will play a critical role in scouting potential vendors, conducting negotiations, and driving price settlements to meet project timelines and cost objectives.

This role requires a strategic and hands-on approach, with a keen understanding of the Bill of

Quantities (BOQ) for complex lithium-ion manufacturing equipment, as well as the ability to

challenge suppliers on commercial terms and ensure competitive pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Scouting & Evaluation:

• Establish and maintain a vendor database of qualified suppliers, ensuring quality standards and cost competitiveness.

Negotiation & Price Settlement:

• Drive price settlement discussions based on the BOQ and complex project requirements, ensuring best-value procurement.

Techno-Commercial Expertise:

• Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to address technical challenges and optimize procurement strategies.

Capex and Opex Management:

• Ensure that all procurement activities are aligned with the overall Capex and Opex
• budget for the Gigafactory project.
• Collaborate with finance and other departments to forecast and manage capital and operational expenditures effectively.

Contract Management & Compliance:

• Oversee the creation and management of contracts, ensuring that they align with
• both the legal framework and business objectives.

Stakeholder Management:

• Ensure clear communication and alignment on procurement objectives, priorities, and challenges.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
2. Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS or CILT) is a plus.

Experience:

1. 4 to 8 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a strong focus on capital equipment procurement (Capex) and MRO.
2. Solid experience in negotiations, price contracting, and vendor management in a

high-value Capex and Opex environment.

Skills:

1. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
2. Strong ability to understand and analyze BOQ and technical documents.
3. Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs related to procurement from China.
4. Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

Languages:

1. Proficiency in English is mandatory.
2. Knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.

2. High attention to detail, particularly in managing complex technical specifications and contractual terms.
