Core Job Responsibilities

1. ITIL Framework Implementation & Alignment

• ITIL Service Value System (SVS) Integration: Design and embed ITIL 4 best practices across the carved-out IT infrastructure function, focusing on core ITIL practices including service strategy, service design, service transition, service operation, and continual service improvement (CSI).
• ITSM Process Standardization: Develop, document, and roll out standardized ITIL-aligned processes for the new entity, including incident management, problem management, change management, release management, configuration management (CMDB), service level management (SLM), and asset management; replace ad-hoc legacy processes with repeatable, efficient ITSM workflows.
• ITSM Tooling Setup & Configuration: Oversee selection, deployment, and customization (try to avoid) of ITSM tools ServiceNow to support ITIL processes; ensure the tooling integrates with the new standalone infrastructure and supports end-to-end service management for the carved-out business.
• Team Training & Adoption: Deliver ITIL training and awareness sessions for the carved-out IT infrastructure team; drive cultural adoption of ITIL principles to shift from reactive to proactive service delivery, ensuring the team can sustain operations post-carve-out.

2. Future Operating Model Design & Standalone IT Operations Setup

• Operating Model Design: Collaborate with business and IT leadership to design a scalable, cost-effective future IT operating model for the standalone entity, tailored to the carve-out business’s size, industry (automotive, if applicable), and long-term growth goals; align the model with ITIL standards and optimize for operational efficiency.
• Team Structure & Resource Planning: Define the optimal IT infrastructure/IS team structure for the new operating model, including role definitions, reporting lines, and resource allocation; support recruitment, onboarding, and knowledge transfer from parent IT teams to the standalone team.
• Service Level Agreement (SLA) Development: Establish formal SLAs between the new IT function and internal business stakeholders, aligned with ITIL service level management practices; define performance metrics, KPIs, and service targets for infrastructure uptime, incident resolution, and change deployment.
• Transition to BAU Operations: Lead the handover of all infrastructure and IS services from project mode to business-as-usual (BAU) operations post-carve-out; develop operational runbooks, disaster recovery (DR) plans, and maintenance protocols to ensure long-term stability and continuity of IT services.

4. Stakeholder Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Executive Reporting: Prepare regular project status reports, dashboards, and risk updates for executive steering committees, carve-out project board, and business leadership; communicate progress, delays, and mitigation strategies clearly and transparently.
• Cross-Entity Collaboration: Liaise daily with parent IT teams, carved-out business unit leaders, finance, legal, and HR teams to align carve-out activities with broader separation goals; resolve inter-entity conflicts and ensure smooth knowledge transfer and service handover.
• Business Alignment: Translate business requirements into technical infrastructure and ITSM solutions; ensure the future operating model and ITIL processes directly support core business operations, customer experience, and growth objectives of the carved-out entity.

5. Continual Improvement & Post-Implementation Review

• Conduct post-carve-out and post-implementation reviews (PIR) of infrastructure systems and ITIL processes; identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Drive continual service improvement (CSI) initiatives per ITIL guidelines to optimize the future operating model, reduce operational costs, and enhance IT service quality over time.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

A. Mandatory Technical & Professional Qualifications

1. Project Management Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or CSM certification; proven track record managing complex, large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
2. ITIL Certification: ITIL Managing Professional (MP) or ITIL Strategic Leader (SL) certification (minimum ITIL Foundation is mandatory, advanced certification preferred); deep hands-on experience implementing ITIL practices in real-world IT environments.
3. Infrastructure Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure, including data centers, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), network architecture, server/storage systems, EUC, cybersecurity fundamentals, and ITSM tooling (ServiceNow, BMC, etc.).
4. Carve-Out/Separation Project Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience leading IT infrastructure or IS workstreams in corporate carve-out, divestiture, or separation projects; understanding of carve-out legal, financial, and technical complexities is critical.
5. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; Master’s degree in IT Management or Business Administration is a plus.

B. Technical Skills & Specialized Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure separation, workload migration, and legacy system decommissioning in carve-out scenarios.
• Proficiency in ITIL core practices: incident, problem, change, release, configuration, and service level management; ability to map ITIL processes to a new standalone operating model.
• Experience designing and implementing IT operating models for standalone or mid-sized enterprises; familiarity with operating model optimization and cost efficiency.
• Knowledge of IT compliance, data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), and cybersecurity best practices for infrastructure environments.
• Advanced project management skills: agile/waterfall hybrid methodologies, budget management, risk assessment, and change control.

C. Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies

C. Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the automotive industry (relevant for automotive carve-out projects) or manufacturing/industrial IT infrastructure environments.
• Certifications in cloud infrastructure (AWS Certified, Azure Certified), cybersecurity, or IT service management (COBIT, ISO 20000).
• Experience managing post-merger integration (PMI) or carve-out operational transition to BAU.
• Fluency in additional languages (if the carve-out involves global/regional teams).
