About The Role

We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our team working on groundbreaking projects related to large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves direct hands-on involvement in developing and automating software environments, triaging issues within open-source repositories, and assessing test coverage and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing high-quality public GitHub repositories and an ability to contribute to the creation of verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world data. You will play a vital role in expanding dataset coverage across various programming languages and difficulty levels, supporting our mission to improve LLM performance in realistic software engineering scenarios.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and familiarity with setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify code locally, and evaluate software quality effectively. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is considered a plus, along with prior involvement in AI or LLM research projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, identifying areas for improvement and potential challenges for LLMs.
• Set up, configure, and automate development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to facilitate efficient testing and evaluation.
• Assess unit test coverage and quality within repositories, providing insights to enhance testing strategies and robustness.
• Modify, run, and debug codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code comprehension scenarios.
• Collaborate closely with research teams to design and identify repositories and issues that pose challenges for language models, guiding dataset expansion efforts.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are achieved effectively.
