Job Purpose: As an Overman, the primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of mining activities within the assigned area. Key tasks include taking over shift charge, supervising dump management, face management, drain management, dewatering, haul road maintenance, conducting inspections to ensure bench and OB dump stability, reviewing blasting schedules, and enforcing safety measures such as proper haul road maintenance and dust control. Additionally, the role involves monitoring manpower and equipment usage, maintaining records as per DGMS guidelines, and promptly addressing any safety hazards or incidents to ensure a secure working environment.
Responsibilities
Overman – Coal Mining
Shift Operations Management
Take over shift charge from the previous overman, ensuring a smooth transition and noting operational, safety, equipment, and manpower details.
Conduct rounds in the assigned area/district to inspect benches, OB dumps, face management, drain management, dewatering, and haul road maintenance, taking necessary actions to enhance stability and efficiency.
Safety And Blasting Operations
Review daily blasting schedule and implement precautions to ensure safe blasting operations.
Monitor dust levels in the mine and implement dust control measures, such as sprinkling water, to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and prevent overcrowding of personnel and machinery.
Equipment And Maintenance
Monitor machinery and operators to ensure safe and secure operations, taking corrective actions as necessary.
Maintain records of operations, safety, equipment, and manpower in accordance with DGMS guidelines.
Enforce disciplinary actions by sending out individuals who disobey orders or violate laws.
Incident Response And Reporting
Carry out timely inspections and attend to any observed or reported dangers, ensuring proper fencing of hazardous areas.
Respond promptly to accidents/incidents within the assigned district, supervising rescue operations if required, and reporting incidents to the shift incharge and control room for further action.

Educational Qualification:
Essential: Diploma in Mining/Any other Branch of Engineering with overman certificate
Desired: Driving license. No colour blindness
