This role sits at the intersection of Production, SEO, Business development, CRO, and Editorial, and is accountable for translating business priorities and strategies into executable publishing plans.
The Publishing Manager is responsible for managing a team of Associates, Senior Associates, owning stakeholder relationships, forecasting and managing production capacity, driving monetization execution, and maintaining high publishing quality standards.
This is a managerial role that also requires deep CMS expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve risks before they impact the business.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Resource Management

Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary Production point of contact for SEO, Editorial, business development and other stakeholders within assigned verticals.
Ensure two-way communication: clearly communicating production constraints while constructively challenging asks that are not feasible or aligned with priorities.
Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and represent Production confidently in project planning and prioritization discussions.
CMS Ownership & Troubleshooting
Act as a subject-matter expert in WordPress and related CMS tooling, making complex changes when required.
Proactively troubleshoot CMS, templates, and publishing issues for the Production team and stakeholders.
Identify recurring issues and raise structured tech requests or process improvements to reduce issues/bugs.
People Management & Leadership
Directly line-manage a team of Associates and senior associates, providing clear direction, prioritization, and ongoing performance feedback.
Own workload distribution, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately based on skill level, capacity, and business priority.
Coach and develop team members to improve publishing quality, CMS proficiency, speed, and commercial awareness.
Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and development planning to build a high-performing and accountable team.
Monetization & Commercial Execution
Implement and optimize monetization strategies for assigned verticals in close partnership with revenue operations and monetization teams.
Proactively identify monetization opportunities within the CMS and raise recommendations to stakeholders.
Quality Control & Delivery
Act as the final line of defense before publication, with full accountability for ensuring content is free from errors across formatting, CMS configuration, SEO, monetization, and page structure.
Ensure publishing accuracy, consistency, and adherence to SEO, monetization, and editorial standards.
Step in to format and publish a range of article types when required, particularly during high-priority or high-risk launches.
Reporting & Tracking
Own and maintain production reporting for assigned verticals, tracking output, revisions, turnaround times, and quality metrics.
Use data to highlight risks, capacity gaps, and improvement opportunities to senior Publishing leadership.
Skills & Experience
Required
Proven experience directly managing a team, including workload planning, performance management, coaching, and driving accountability for delivery and quality
Strong experience in content production, publishing, or digital operations within a high-volume environment.
Advanced CMS expertise (minimum 5+ years) in WordPress, AEM, or similar platforms, with a clear understanding of how CMS works and how to navigate through the different moving parts of it.

Strong business mindset with an understanding of how content drives revenue and performance.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex publishing or CMS issues and propose practical, scalable solutions.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity for junior team members and confidently push back with senior stakeholders.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
