Purchase & Supply Chain Manager Full Time

Job Summary

The Purchase & Supply Chain Manager is responsible for end-to-end procurement and supply chain operations for electromechanical manufacturing, including raw materials, bought-out components, sub-contracting, inventory planning, vendor development, and logistics. The role ensures cost-effective sourcing, uninterrupted material availability, supplier quality compliance, and on-time delivery to support production of hermetically sealed relays, switches, relay sockets, pilot control grips, and allied products.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

• Plan and execute procurement of raw materials, electronic and electromechanical components, metals, glass-to-metal seals, plastics, springs, coils, terminals, packaging materials, etc.
• Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers for cost, quality, delivery, and payment terms.
• Develop and manage approved vendor lists in line with quality and compliance requirements.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and long-term contracts.
• Ensure compliance with purchase policies, budgets, and audit requirements.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management

• Ensure uninterrupted material supply to meet production plans and customer delivery schedules.
• Monitor and optimize inventory levels (RM, WIP, FG) to balance service levels and working capital.
• Implement MRP / ERP-based planning and forecasting.
• Track and control lead times, safety stock, and reorder levels.
• Coordinate with production planning for demand fluctuations.

Vendor Development & Quality Coordination

• Identify, evaluate, and develop critical suppliers for precision and hermetic components.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance on supplier audits, PPAPs, corrective actions, and rejection control.
• Ensure suppliers comply with ISO, customer-specific, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance (OTD, quality, cost).

Logistics & Compliance

• Manage inbound logistics, freight forwarding, and customs clearance (if applicable).
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, GST, documentation, and statutory norms.
• Optimize logistics costs and improve transit efficiency.

Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with Production, Design, Quality, Finance, and Sales teams.
• Support new product development (NPD) by sourcing new materials and suppliers.
• Provide inputs for make-or-buy decisions.

Reporting & MIS

• Track and report purchase costs, inventory turns, supplier performance, and supply risks.
• Prepare monthly MIS and management reports.
• Highlight risks and propose mitigation plans for supply disruptions.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Industrial)
• MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management preferred

Experience

• 8–12 years of experience in procurement and supply chain within a manufacturing environment
• Prior experience in electromechanical / electronics / precision manufacturing is highly desirable
• Experience handling critical components and long lead-time items
