Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to manage procurement activities for raw materials, fabrication items, engineering components, and consumables required for manufacturing operations. The candidate should have strong vendor management skills, negotiation abilities, and coordination experience with production, planning, stores, and engineering departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end procurement activities for engineering and manufacturing materials.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships for timely material supply.
• Compare quotations and negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
• Prepare Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up for timely deliveries.
• Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, and Quality departments for material requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Source new vendors and evaluate supplier performance.
• Track pending orders and update management on procurement status.
• Ensure procurement as per project timelines and production schedules.
• Maintain proper procurement records, documentation, and ERP entries.
• Handle local purchase as well as outsourced job work procurement.
• Support cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and negotiations.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication materials.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Excel.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Good coordination and follow-up skills.

Qualification

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
• Additional certification in Supply Chain or Procurement will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in fabrication, heavy engineering, process equipment, skid manufacturing, tank fabrication, or fire safety equipment industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of MS, SS, piping, flanges, valves, fasteners, and industrial components procurement.
