Job Purpose
• To lead Operations Planning, Performance Monitoring & Performance Management for Air India Cargo Operations at ~100+ India stations
Key Accountabilities
Operations Long Term Planning
•Lead budgeting and resource requirement on an annual basis and track implementation of the same for given region
Operational Performance Monitoring
• Periodically monitor and review cargo operations performance in collaboration with regional cargo teams, focusing on key operational KPIs, FSUs, and any failures or discrepancies. Ensure alignment with Air India’s standards for performance, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide HQ-level oversight and support during operational escalations, facilitating swift, coordinated mitigation and recovery efforts.
• Conduct periodic station visits to inspect ground handling operations, identify process gaps and infrastructure challenges, and develop actionable improvement plans.
Process Optimization
• Identify opportunities to optimize cargo operations, implement best practices, and reduce costs, contributing to overall operational improvements.
Operations Strategy Implementation
• To support in implementation of operational excellence strategies, cost optimization measures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of cargo operations.
• Provide support in implementing other strategic policies and initiatives.
Emergency Response and Contingency Planning
• Develop and implement contingency plans for unexpected events or disruptions in ground handling services. Coordinate with relevant parties to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.
Other Responsibilities
• Oversee cargo documentation compliance across the entire network, ensuring alignment with international and domestic regulatory standards, including customs requirements. Proactively identify and resolve operational discrepancies.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety and security protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials. Lead and coordinate investigations into any reported safety or security incidents to drive continuous improvement.
• Work closely with customer service teams to promptly address customer inquiries, resolve operational issues, and uphold high levels of customer satisfaction.
Educational and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics Management or a related field
• 10-15 years of experience in cargo operations, logistics, supply chain, transportation, preferably with some exposure to air cargo handling. Experience in the aviation industry, with a focus on cargo operations and performance management.
