Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for a Senior Procurement Officer. In this position, the Senior Procurement Officer will manage and coordinate procurement processes, including preparing and issuing purchase orders and sourcing vendors. The role involves contract negotiation, ensuring compliance with company policies, and developing cost-saving strategies. The Senior Procurement Officer will also analyze market trends, support purchasing activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer / Senior Procurement Executive to handle procurement activities for MEP construction projects. The candidate should have good knowledge of MEP materials, vendor coordination, price negotiation, purchase order processing, delivery follow-up, and coordination with project/site teams.

Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with reputed construction companies, MEP contractors, or project-based procurement teams handling similar building services materials.

Key Responsibilities1. MEP Material Procurement

Handle procurement of MEP materials required for construction projects, including electrical, plumbing, firefighting, HVAC, ELV, and related services.

2. Vendor Identification and Development

Identify suitable vendors, suppliers, dealers, and manufacturers based on project requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

3. RFQ and Quotation Comparison

Float enquiries / RFQs to vendors, collect quotations, prepare comparative statements, and support final vendor selection.

4. Price Negotiation

Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranty terms, and commercial conditions with vendors to achieve cost-effective procurement.

5. Purchase Order Processing

Prepare and process purchase orders as per approved quotations, technical approvals, budgets, and project requirements.

6. Technical Coordination

Coordinate with project engineers, design teams, consultants, and vendors for technical specifications, material approvals, make approvals, and compliance requirements.

7. Procurement Planning

Prepare procurement schedules based on project timelines, site requirements, approved drawings, BOQ, and material requirement plans.

8. Delivery Follow-Up

Track material delivery status, coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams, and ensure timely delivery of materials to site.

9. Material Approval Support

Assist in arranging technical datasheets, samples, compliance statements, test certificates, catalogues, and other documents required for consultant/client approval.

10. Coordination with Stores and Site Teams

Coordinate with site engineers and stores team for material receipt, inspection, shortage reporting, damage reporting, and material reconciliation.

11. Cost Control and Budget Monitoring

Support project cost control by comparing purchase rates with budgeted rates and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

12. Documentation and Records

Maintain proper records of enquiries, quotations, comparison statements, purchase orders, approvals, delivery challans, invoices, vendor details, and procurement trackers.

Required Skills and Competencies

The candidate should have:

• Good knowledge of MEP construction materials
• Experience in procurement for building / infrastructure / industrial projects
• Ability to read BOQs, technical specifications, and project drawings
• Strong vendor negotiation and commercial evaluation skills
• Knowledge of purchase order terms, payment terms, taxes, delivery conditions, and warranties
• Ability to coordinate with site teams, consultants, vendors, and management
• Good understanding of material approval procedures
• Strong follow-up skills for timely delivery
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and procurement tracking formats
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work under project deadlines

Preferred Candidate Profile

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• Worked with reputed MEP contractors, construction companies, or project procurement teams
• Experience in procurement of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, ELV, and allied MEP materials
• Existing vendor network for MEP products
• Experience in large residential, commercial, hotel, hospital, industrial, or infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of material brands, approved makes, technical datasheets, and consultant approval process
• Ability to support both technical and commercial procurement decisions

• Electrical cables, wires, cable trays, conduits, switchgear, DBs, panels, lighting fixtures, earthing materials, UPS
• Electrical HT Items- Breakers, Structure, CTs, PTs, Substation items,
• HVAC ducts, pipes, valves, insulation, equipment, grilles, diffusers, supports
• Plumbing pipes, fittings, sanitary fixtures, valves, pumps, water supply and drainage materials
• Firefighting pipes, sprinklers, hydrants, valves, pumps, fire alarm systems
• Consumables, fasteners, supports, accessories, and site execution materials

Qualification

• Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Electrical, Mechanical or relevant engineering discipline
• Candidates with strong practical procurement experience in MEP construction may also be considered
