Pepper is building a new category of content and SEO growth platform — where strategy, content, technology, automation, and AI come together to drive measurable business outcomes for our customers.
Over the last five years, Pepper has built a network of 150,000+ content creators, a customer base of 2,500+ global brands, and a SaaS-enabled platform powering content creation, workflow orchestration, and distribution at scale. We’re now building an Agentic AI SEO Platform — and we need someone to make sure our customers actually win from it.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an SEO Account Manager to own the customer relationship, account health, and revenue retention for Pepper’s India customer portfolio.
Important — this is NOT an SEO execution role.
You will not be running keyword research, fixing crawl errors, or pulling Ahrefs reports. We have a Growth Lead and an SEO execution team for that. Your job is the business of the account: the client conversation, the QBR, the renewal, the upsell, the cross-sell, the escalation, the retention.
You are the single owner of whether the customer is happy, growing, and renewing. You quarterback the engagement — pulling in the SEO Lead, Content Lead, and Growth Lead at the right moments — and you own the commercial outcome end-to-end.
This is a customer success + project management + account growth role for someone who
knows SEO well enough to be credible with senior client stakeholders, but whose superpower is relationships, ownership, and revenue.
What You’ll Own
1. Client Relationship & Trust
Be the primary day-to-day contact for a portfolio of India customers — typically 8–15 accounts depending on ARR.
Build deep, trusted relationships with marketing, growth, and content leadership at the client side (CMOs, Heads of Growth, Heads of Content).
Run weekly/bi-weekly client calls, monthly business reviews (MBRs), and quarterly business reviews (QBRs). Set the agenda, drive the narrative, own the follow-through.
Be the steady, clear voice in the room when things get difficult. Escalations come to you first.
2. Revenue: Retention, Upsell, Cross-Sell
You will be measured on GRR, NRR, and account expansion — not on traffic or rankings.
Own the renewal cycle for every account in your book — proactively, not reactively. No surprise churn.
Identify and close upsell (more SEO scope, more content, more services) and cross-sell (additional Pepper products and platform modules) opportunities. Build the business case, run the conversation, partner with Sales/Solutions where needed.
Maintain a forward-looking pipeline of expansion opportunities for your portfolio. Forecast accurately.
3. Project Management & Delivery Orchestration
Own the engagement plan for every account — scope, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and dependencies.
Quarterback internal delivery: pull in the right people at the right moments — Growth Lead, SEO Lead, Content Lead, Product, AI/Automation team — and unblock them.
Run tight cadences: weekly internal pod stand-ups, clear status updates to the client, on-time delivery of every commitment.
Ensure every commitment made on a client call is tracked, owned, and closed.
4. Strategic Partner to the Customer
Be SEO-fluent enough that clients trust you in a strategy conversation: know the lever, the trade-off, the realistic timeline. You’re not the executor — but you’re not a coordinator either.
Translate client business goals (pipeline, revenue, brand) into clear SEO and content priorities for the internal team.
Bring proactive recommendations to clients — not just status updates. Spot patterns across their account, benchmark against the portfolio, and push them toward bigger outcomes.
5. Account Health & CS Rigour
Own the health score for every account: usage, engagement, sentiment, business outcomes, executive alignment.
Build and maintain account plans, success plans, and stakeholder maps for every customer.
Flag at-risk accounts early. Run save plays. Close the loop with leadership weekly.
Drive CSAT, NPS, and reference-ability across your book.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
5–9 years of customer-facing experience in B2B SaaS/Agency account management, customer success, or strategic project management — ideally at a content, marketing, or martech company.
Demonstrated track record of owning a book of business, hitting GRR/NRR targets, and closing upsell/cross-sell.
Strong working knowledge of SEO and content marketing — enough to lead a client conversation, push back on weak strategy, and translate business goals into SEO priorities. You don’t need to be an SEO IC, but you need to be SEO-fluent.
Excellent project management chops — you run tight engagements, hit deadlines, and surface delivery risks early.
Outstanding written and verbal communication. You can write a crisp QBR deck, send a delicate escalation email, and run a tense renewal conversation with equal clarity.
High ownership, high EQ, high follow-through. Customers feel confident with you on the account.
What Will Set You Apart
Experience managing enterprise accounts with multiple stakeholders.
Background that includes time spent in SEO, content, or growth (even if you’ve moved into AM/CS since).
Experience working with AI/automation-led delivery models — comfortable when the “team” includes agents, not just humans.
Strong commercial instincts — you can spot a expansion the executor would miss.
Who This Role Is NOT For
Someone who wants to do hands-on SEO execution. (We have a Growth Lead and an SEO team for that.)
Someone who sees account management as just status updates and meeting notes. This role owns commercial outcomes.
Someone uncomfortable with revenue accountability — GRR/NRR are your scoreboard.
Someone who needs a manager closely directing the day-to-day. This is an ownership role.
