Your key responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer bears primary responsibility for the stability of Sophis application, identifies application and system-related problems and takes the lead in resolving incidents. Your tasks consist of monitoring, management, studying and running Sophis application / service. You proactively monitor the technical behaviour and performance in all aspects for the entire stack in order to prevent problems. Your functional knowledge allows you to be a part of each solution. This means you can contribute to completion of all activities in the backlog. The following items are vital in this:

Contribute to the new way of working

– You work together with colleagues from other areas of expertise and take initiative in expanding knowledge (both within and outside of your area of expertise) that is relevant for the Investing Tribe in which you work;

-You use your technical expertise and experience to contribute to all sprint events (planning, refinements, retrospectives, demos);

– Where possible, you take on tasks/activities that contribute to the mission, even when they are not entirely within your area of expertise.

Engineering

• You understand the functional and non-functional requirements of Sophis application;
• You take ownership of issues and improvements, seeing them through to completion, providing comprehensive handover as required;
• You contribute to increase the reliability of Sophis application and to keep the risk controls in order;
• You’re comfortable with multiple testing methodologies;
• You apply continuous delivery and continuous integration best practices.

You will need to:

• Be educated in software engineering (min. Bachelor degree);
• Demonstrable experience in the Sophis world (Functional and IT);
• Have a good knowledge in SQL programming: syntax, objects utilization and optimization;
• Be experienced in one more relevant programming language (Powershell, C++, C#)
• Be experienced in Agile and Continuous Delivery practices;
• Be pro-active, assertive and a good communicator;
• Have an excellent written and spoken knowledge of English

1. (knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset);

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience with SQL (Oracle, SQL Server) for troubleshooting data issues.
• Scripting knowledge: Python, Shell, PowerShell (for automation and log analysis).
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and batch processing.
• Basic knowledge of C++ or C# (since Sophis APIs/customizations often use them).
• Knowledge of integration protocols (MQ, FIX, REST APIs) for upstream/downstream systems.
