Senior SAP BASIS Consultant – Job Description

• Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SAP BASIS Consultant with strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA, HANA Database, and large-scale SAP landscape management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading technical operations, performing complex upgrades and migrations, ensuring system stability, and supporting mission-critical SAP environments. This role requires strong hands-on capabilities, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in rotational shifts to support production environments.

• Key Responsibilities
• Implementation & Technical Setup
• Lead SAP S/4HANA system implementation, installation, configuration, and environment setup.
• Support landscape design, system provisioning, and post-installation validation.
• Upgrades, Patching & Maintenance
• Perform SAP upgrades, Support Packs, Feature Packs, kernel updates, and technical maintenance.
• Execute major technical changes with minimal downtime and strong risk mitigation.
• Daily BASIS Operations (Including Additional SAP Components)
• Conduct daily system health checks, log reviews, and background job monitoring.
• Provide BASIS support for SAP BW/BW4HANA, SAP PI/PO, SAP SAC, SAP SCM (APO, EWM, TM), SAP SRM, and other SAP components.
• Troubleshoot issues related to transports, performance, RFCs, spool, gateway, queues, and cross-component integrations.
• Support interface connectivity, IDoc monitoring, PI/PO adapters, BW process chains, SRM workflows, and SCM technical operations.
• Ensure adherence to SLA and proactive issue resolution.
• HANA Database Administration
• Manage HANA DB backup/restore, performance tuning, resource allocation, and monitoring.
• Handle system replication, DR configuration, and memory optimization.
• SAP BTP & Integration Support
• Utilize SAP BTP services, subaccount management, destination setup, and integrations.
• Support hybrid scenarios between BTP and on-prem S/4HANA systems.
• Solution Manager & SAP Cloud ALM (CALM)
• Utilize Solution Manager capabilities including ChaRM, EWA, Technical Monitoring.
• Experience with SAP Cloud ALM for monitoring and lifecycle operations.
• Shift Support
• Provide rotational and on-call support for production systems.
• Manage critical incidents (P1/P2) with fast response and detailed RCA.
• Mandatory Qualifications
• 5–10+ years of SAP BASIS experience in complex and distributed SAP environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA system administration.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP HANA Database including performance tuning and administration.
• Proven experience with upgrades, migrations, and multi-system landscapes (DEV/QA/PRD).
• Preferred Qualifications
• SAP Certifications in BASIS, HANA, or Cloud.
• Experience with automation/scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
• Exposure to SAP on Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud deployment models.
• Required Technical Skills
• Strong hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA BASIS administration.
• Experience supporting SAP BW, SAP PI/PO, SAP SAC, SAP SCM, and SAP SRM components.
• Understanding of BW process chains, PI/PO message monitoring, SRM workflows, and SCM interfaces.
• Deep understanding of transports, clients, RFCs, spool, background jobs, and security fundamentals.
• Strong experience with performance analysis and system troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
