THE ROLE:
The State Head will be responsible for driving overall business growth, sales performance, distribution expansion, and team effectiveness across the assigned state. The role includes overseeing primary and secondary sales, managing distributor networks, strengthening sales team capability, and ensuring achievement of business objectives. The key focus areas will be accelerating sales growth, increasing market penetration, and driving sustainable profitability.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education: MBA / Graduate in Business, Marketing, or related field
Experience: 10–12 years in FMCG sales, with strong state-level or regional sales exposure
Preferred Background: Food, beverages, packaged foods, or similar FMCG categories
(Candidates from Cosmetics / Personal Care / OTC industries will not be considered)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales & Business Growth
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned state.
Drive primary, secondary, and tertiary sales across all channels.
Develop state-level sales strategies to increase revenue.
Monitor category-wise, SKU-wise, channel-wise, and territory-wise performance.
Distribution & Market Expansion
Expand distributor, sub-distributor, and retail outlets.
Improve numeric and weighted distribution across urban and rural markets.
Ensure proper outlet coverage, beat planning, and sales productivity.
Identify new markets and growth opportunities.
Team Management
Lead and manage ASM, Sales officers and distributor sales teams.
Set clear KPIs and review performance regularly.
Conduct monthly and weekly business reviews.
Coach and develop the team for better execution and leadership pipeline.
Channel Management
Manage General Trade, SAMT, Wholesale and Distributor channels as applicable.
Ensure effective trade scheme execution.
Build strong relationships with key distributors, retailers, wholesalers.
Market Intelligence
Track competitor activities, pricing, schemes, launches, and market trends.
Share regular market feedback with management.
Identify consumer and trade insights to support business decisions
SKILLS REQUIRED:
FMCG experience is a MUST (Tamil Nadu region)
Proficiency in Tamil Language is a must (Non negotiable)
Minimum 2 years as Sales Head / RSM in FMCG (Food)
Proficiency in Excel and sales reporting tools (Field assist)
