About the Role

The role involves managing end-to-end application packaging requests and ensuring quality assurance of each application according to company standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage end to end application packaging request: request validation → pre-packaging → build → smoke test → repository publishing → SQA testing → UAT → production rollout (Intune/SCCM).
• Execute enterprise packaging processes such as PRF/source validation, complexity assessment in ServiceNow, Application Owner communication, dependency review, UAT machine/user readiness, upgrade/retirement logic, and compliance with packaging standards.
• Manage production rollouts via CRs, wave-based deployments, maintenance window alignment, maker-checker validation, and rollback governance.
• Perform comprehensive install/uninstall/upgrade/rollback testing across Windows 11, macOS etc. ensuring zero-defect readiness prior to UAT.
• Conduct detailed source validation, OS compatibility testing, allowed/disallowed components review, sequencing/dependency analysis, and installer behavior assessment using clean VM builds.
• Create and customize MSI/MSIX/App-V/PKG packages using AdminStudio/InstallShield following silent install and uninstall rules.
• Perform QA to integrate testing, ensure quality gate adherence, maintain standards, and provide packaging deliverables that meet enterprise security and compliance guidelines.
• Manage UAT lifecycle: Prepare UAT environment, validate deployment in UAT, communicate readiness, support Application Owner/business testing, track issues, capture sign-off.
• Troubleshoot packaging or deployment failures using tools like ProcMon, CMTrace, Event Viewer, and support remediation during testing, UAT, pilot, and production rollout phases.
• Perform monthly vulnerability reviews of critical applications by checking vendor websites, downloading updated versions, raising packaging requests, testing updated builds, and deploying it to devices.
• Maintain documentation accuracy including packaging records, version history, install steps, dependency details, ServiceNow updates, CR evidence, and repository hygiene.
• Support lifecycle management by identifying obsolete/redundant applications, coordinating retirement, tracking vendor updates, and contributing to process improvement initiatives driven by KPIs and SLAs.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield and standardized packaging templates.
• Ability to create, repackage, convert, and customize applications in MSI, MSIX, MSIX conversion, App-V 5.x, and macOS PKG formats.
• Ability to perform detailed source validation, OS compatibility checks, sequencing, and dependency mapping using clean VM builds.
• Sequenced Applications for a virtual environment using Microsoft App-V 5.0.
• Strong hands-on experience deploying packaged applications across Microsoft Intune and SCCM/MECM, including testing both deployment paths for reliability.
• Created custom actions within MSI to make the applications work according to the company standards.
• Strong troubleshooting with ProcMon, Event Viewer, CMTrace, logs from installer engines, and remediation workflows.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and experience with PSAppDeployToolkit for automation.
• Provided well-thought-out recommendations on complex or ambiguous IT architecture issues.
• Responsible for the Quality Assurance of each application according to the Company standards.
• Worked with the end-users to troubleshoot problems with the packaged applications.
• Extensively worked with Orca to edit the MSI tables, Merge Modules.
• Used VB Script for Custom actions and created components and associated with the feature as required.
• Worked on Silent Installs for certain applications to automate them for software distribution.
• Create, test virtualize applications and analyse application errors.
• Strong understanding of ServiceNow (SNOW) tool and ITIL framework, including incident, change, request, and configuration management processes.
• Experience using PatchMyPC for automated packaging, silent install wrapping (PSADT), version monitoring, and publishing to SCCM/Intune.

Preferred Skills

• Experience integrating Flexera AdminStudio with Microsoft Intune for direct package import and workflow automation.
• Knowledge of MSIX modernization strategy, UWP compatibility, enterprise adoption, and migration of legacy MSI/EXE applications.
