Technical Lead Software Engineer Full Time

We are looking for a Tech Lead to drive end-to-end engineering ownership across high-impact product areas at Licious. This role will lead a team of SDE 2s and SDE 3s, delivering scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. The scope of work can span across multiple business verticals including and not limited to Supply Chain, Retail or Consumer platforms.

This is a high-ownership role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and enjoys solving complex problems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers (SDE 2s and SDE 3s), driving technical excellence and high-quality delivery
• Own end-to-end design and development of scalable, distributed systems
• Drive architectural decisions with a strong focus on distributed architecture and system scalability
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, security, and reliability
• Drive performance optimization initiatives and continuously improve system efficiency
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges
• Champion best practices across microservices, API design, and cloud-native architectures
• Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and capability building within the engineering team

Requirements

• 7–9 years of experience in software engineering with strong backend or full-stack development expertise
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams (SDE 2s and SDE 3s)
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and scalable architecture
• Strong experience with modern tech stacks including Java, Python, React Native, TypeScript, Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, MySQL and AWS
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and cloud-native systems
• Experience in building and scaling high-performance systems with a focus on reliability and efficiency
• Experience with modern development practices including CI/CD, containerization, and observability
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, startup environment

Good to Have

• Experience working in e-commerce or consumer internet platforms
• Exposure to high-scale systems handling large volumes of traffic and transactions
• Strong experience in scalability engineering and performance optimization
• Prior experience owning large modules or platforms end-to-end
