The Head of Test Bed is responsible for planning, establishing, managing, and overseeing all test bed activities related to EPC transmission line projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, international standards, client requirements, and safety regulations. The role ensures validation of design assumptions, construction methodologies, materials, and equipment before large-scale execution.
Key Responsibilities
Test Bed Planning
Plan, and establish test beds for transmission line components such as:
? Tower erection and rigging.
Define scope, objectives, acceptance criteria, and test procedures.
Coordinate with design, construction, and QA/QC teams for test bed requirements.
Technical Oversight
Ensure test beds accurately represent site conditions and project constraints.
Analyze test results and recommend design or methodology improvements.
Provide technical approval and sign-off for test bed outcomes.
Standards & Compliance
Ensure Compliance With
Contract specifications.
Client and consultant requirements.
Maintain proper documentation, records, and reports for audits and approvals.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
Liaise With
Engineering and design teams.
Construction and commissioning teams.
Clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors.
Vendors.
Conduct technical presentations and demonstrations for client approvals.
Quality & Safety
Ensure all test bed activities comply with HSE policies and risk assessments.
Identify potential quality or safety risks and implement mitigation measures.
Lead root cause analysis for any test failures or non-conformities.
Knowledge of NABL Certification and required coordination activities.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor test bed engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
Allocate resources and manage schedules to meet project timelines.
Conduct performance reviews and technical training.
Ability to Monitor and Control Documentation
Test bed reports.
Method statements.
Inspection and test plans (ITPs).
Lessons learned and best practice documentation.
Provide regular progress updates to senior management.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering.
Experience
Ability to manage and lead diverse workforce teams.
15+ years of experience in transmission line testing industry.
5+ years in a senior technical or leadership role.
Proven experience in test bed development and execution for EHV / UHV transmission lines.
