Role Description The Vessel Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the assigned vessel in support of offshore oil and gas activities. This full-time, on-site role is based in Kakinada and involves leading the vessel crew, ensuring adherence to maritime regulations, and maintaining high standards of safety and environmental protection. Day-to-day responsibilities include voyage planning, navigation, and watchkeeping; overseeing cargo and deck operations, including supply runs and offshore support tasks; and coordinating with shore-based teams, clients, and other vessels. The Vessel Captain also supervises maintenance and inspections, manages documentation and logbooks, conducts drills and safety briefings, and ensures that all onboard activities follow company procedures and international standards. The role requires a hands-on leadership approach, with a strong emphasis on crew management, operational reliability, and incident prevention.

Qualifications

• Valid Master Mariner / Captain’s license appropriate for vessel type and tonnage, with all required STCW certifications and endorsements.
• Proven experience as Captain or senior officer on PSVs, Anchor Handlers, OSVs, or similar offshore support vessels, preferably in oil and gas operations.
• Strong navigation, ship handling, and offshore maneuvering skills, including experience with DP (Dynamic Positioning) operations if applicable.
• Demonstrated expertise in marine safety management, ISM/ISPS compliance, emergency response, and environmental protection practices.
• Experience in crew leadership, mentorship, and performance management, with a focus on building a safe, respectful, and collaborative working culture.
• Solid understanding of vessel technical systems and maintenance routines, with the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and shore-based teams.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, including clear written logkeeping and effective coordination with clients, port authorities, and company operations.
• Ability to work in offshore environments for extended periods, meet medical fitness requirements, and comply with all relevant health and safety standards.
