Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Wiring Harness Design & Development Engineer to design, develop, and validate wiring harness systems for automotive (EV & ICE) applications. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end product development from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Development
· Design wiring harness layouts using CAD tools (2D/3D).
· Prepare harness drawings, schematics, and routing layouts.
· Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, and protective coverings.
· Ensure compliance with OEM standards and industry specifications.
2. Product Development
· Develop prototypes and coordinate with production team for sample builds.
· Support new product development (NPD) activities.
· Perform design validation and verification (DV/PV).
3. Documentation
· Prepare:
o CKT Table, Cutting Chart, Bill of Materials (BOM)
o Technical drawings
o Work instructions & SOPs
· Maintain design change records (ECN/ECR).
4. Testing & Validation
· Coordinate electrical testing (continuity, HV testing, functional testing).
· Analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
5. Cross-functional Coordination
· Work closely with:
o Production team
o Quality team
o Procurement team
· Coordinate with OEMs and clients for design approvals.
6. Cost Optimization
· Optimize design for cost, weight, and manufacturability.
· Suggest alternative materials/components.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
· Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience
· 4–6 years in wiring harness design & development (Automotive/EV preferred)
Technical Skills
· Knowledge of wiring harness components:
o Connectors, terminals, wires, sleeves, tapes
· CAD tools (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar)
· Understanding of:
o Circuit diagrams
o Harness routing
o Crimping standards
Additional Skills
· Problem-solving ability
· Strong communication skills
· Attention to detail
Preferred Skills
· Experience with EV wiring harness
· Knowledge of OEM standards
· Familiarity with testing equipment (continuity tester, HV tester)
· Understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
