About The Role

Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking an experienced and highly skilled VLSI Digital Design Engineer to join our WLAN PHY (Baseband) team in Bangalore. This role involves leading the development of complex IPs for the latest WiFi standards, contributing significantly to the company’s vision of becoming a global leader in WiFi chip solutions. As part of the Hardware Engineering group, you will work closely with a team of seasoned domain experts to design, optimize, and validate high-performance digital blocks that form the backbone of wireless communication systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in translating system requirements into efficient, power-optimized, and silicon-ready designs. You will also have the opportunity to guide junior engineers, propose innovative design solutions, and participate in the full lifecycle of IP development—from concept through silicon implementation and validation. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in hardware design. Candidates with a Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience, are also suitable. Extensive hands-on experience in micro-architecting and developing complex IPs is essential. Proficiency in digital design principles, VLSI concepts, and creating power- and area-efficient IPs across multiple clock domains is required. Familiarity with RTL coding in Verilog and experience with RTL quality assurance flows such as CDC, PLDRC, and CLP are expected. The ability to evaluate trade-offs and propose optimized design alternatives to meet performance, power, and area targets is crucial. Leadership skills, including guiding junior team members and managing project deliverables, are highly valued. Experience in wireless technologies such as WLAN, LTE, NR, Bluetooth, or UWB, or prior HLS experience, is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of this role include leading the design and implementation of digital IPs for WiFi standards, ensuring compliance with industry specifications and internal quality standards. You will develop RTL code for complex data-path and control-path blocks, perform verification and validation, and collaborate with system architects to translate requirements into efficient hardware solutions. Your role will involve conducting design reviews, performing timing analysis, and ensuring power and area optimization throughout the development process. You will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment, and facilitating knowledge sharing. Additionally, you will participate in the development of test plans, debugging complex issues, and refining signal processing algorithms to meet evolving wireless communication needs. Your innovative approach and technical expertise will contribute to the continuous enhancement of Qualcomm’s WiFi products, helping the company maintain its leadership position in the industry.
