About the Role:

As the Technology Lead for our learning app, you will define and drive the engineering vision to build a world-class learning platform that empowers millions of educators across India. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of teacher capability development by leading our technical strategy, modernizing systems, and ensuring scalability and reliability at every level.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Strategy

• Define and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and growth objectives.
• Drive platform modernization and architectural evolution to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Treat AI as a core product surface, not a future capability. Drive the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of AI/ML systems — LLM-powered tutoring and chatbots, recommendation engines for learning paths, vernacular language support, and assessment automation — with a clear point of view on cost, latency, quality, and safety trade-offs.
• Oversee key technology stack decisions and guide long-term product infrastructure planning.
• Make explicit build-vs-buy choices on AI models, infrastructure, and platform components based on cost, speed-to-value, and strategic importance. Sequence technology bets against funding cycles and business priorities, and defend trade-offs clearly to leadership.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to deliver transformative learning experiences.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives that enable innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
• Manage and align external engineering partners, ensuring delivery quality and adherence to timelines.

Engineering Excellence

• Champion best practices in software development — including clean code, testing, security, and performance optimization.
• Co-own product outcome metrics (e.g., weekly active teachers, content completion, learning impact) alongside engineering metrics (delivery velocity, uptime, reliability, and quality). Treat both as a single scoreboard.
• Ensure robust DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and efficient cloud infrastructure/ cost management.

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture.
• Mentor and guide internal contributors and partner teams to build strong technical capabilities.
• Communicate engineering progress, challenges, and insights effectively to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 6 years leading cross-functional projects or teams.
• Proven success in scaling technology platforms through rapid growth phases.
• Strong background in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems design.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/LLM-powered features to production at scale, with demonstrated judgment on model selection, evaluation, cost optimization, and responsible deployment. Classical ML experience alone is not sufficient for this role.
• Demonstrated experience in aligning technical strategy with business goals and user needs.
• Track record of implementing engineering best practices and maintaining high quality standards.
• Experience in education technology or e-learning domain preferred.
