The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly experienced Revenue Accounting Manager to build and strengthen the company’s technical revenue accounting function.

This is not a routine revenue close role.

The company operates in a complex, multi-product environment with thousands of customers, multiple products, and several order-to-cash workflows. The revenue accounting processes now need to be redesigned, documented, and scaled in a more controlled way.

You will own the technical ASC 606 framework – from contract intake and analysis through accounting conclusions, policy documentation, auditor support, and upstream deal structuring.

The right person will combine deep technical revenue expertise with a builder mentality. You should be comfortable identifying what is broken, influencing cross-functional teams, defending complex judgments, and creating scalable processes rather than simply operating within existing ones.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve end-to-end ASC 606 processes across a complex, multi-product business
• Review newly signed customer contracts and determine the appropriate revenue recognition treatment
• Assess performance obligations, standalone selling price, variable consideration, contract modifications, material rights, and timing of revenue recognition
• Create a structured contract intake and review process
• Prepare technical accounting memos for large, complex, or judgment-heavy arrangements
• Review existing ASC 606 policies and documentation, identify gaps, and correct inaccurate or incomplete conclusions
• Establish stronger controls and documentation standards across the revenue lifecycle
• Design and implement upstream deal-desk processes
• Partner with Sales, Legal, FP&A, Finance, and Operations before contracts are signed
• Advise commercial teams on how contract structures, pricing, and terms affect revenue recognition
• Build practical revenue recognition playbooks for Sales and Legal
• Own technical revenue judgments and communicate conclusions clearly across the business
• Defend accounting positions and supporting documentation during audits
• Explore the use of AI tools, including Claude, to support contract review, risk identification, and documentation
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve technical revenue accounting workflows
• Build scalable processes that can support thousands of customers and continued company growth

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves

• Deep, hands-on ASC 606 expertise
• Significant experience in technical revenue accounting
• Experience working in complex, multi-product, or multi-contract environments
• Strong understanding of:
• Performance obligations
• Standalone selling price and allocation
• Variable consideration
• Contract modifications
• Material rights
• Deferred revenue
• Revenue schedules and waterfalls
• Complex contract terms and judgment areas
• Ability to independently review contracts and determine the correct accounting treatment
• Experience preparing formal technical accounting memos
• Confidence defending accounting judgments to auditors
• Strong builder mentality and process-improvement orientation
• Experience influencing Sales, Legal, FP&A, and other cross-functional stakeholders
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and unstructured environment
• Strong written and verbal English communication
• Ability to explain technical accounting concepts in a practical, business-friendly way
• Willingness to use AI tools as part of day-to-day work

Strongly Preferred

• Big Four audit or technical accounting experience
• Revenue audit background
• Experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, or another complex technology environment
• Experience in a venture-backed or high-growth business
• Exposure to public-company controls and documentation standards
• NetSuite experience
• Experience with multiple products, contract types, and revenue streams
• Experience building deal-desk or pre-signature contract review processes
• Familiarity with AI-enabled contract review or accounting automation tools

An ideal, though not required, background may include:

• Early career experience in audit or technical accounting
• Revenue accounting experience in a complex B2B SaaS or technology company
• Exposure to a mature or public-company accounting environment where strong controls and documentation standards were in place
