Role Overview (Rehab-Focused)
We are actively seeking a highly experienced Inpatient Rehabilitation (IP Rehab) Medical Coder with deep expertise in rehab workflows, documentation, and E/M coding.
This role is ideal for coders who have worked extensively with IRF (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities) and understand the complexity of rehab-specific documentation, compliance, and reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate coding for Inpatient Rehabilitation (IP Rehab / IRF) encounters
- Assign appropriate E/M codes based on rehab physician documentation
- Review and interpret rehab-specific clinical documentation (therapy notes, progress notes, multidisciplinary records)
- Ensure compliance with CMS IRF guidelines, payer rules, and federal regulations
- Support accurate coding aligned with IRF-PAI and rehab billing requirements
- Identify coding gaps that may lead to denials or revenue leakage
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and billing teams to improve documentation quality
- Maintain high accuracy and productivity standards
Required Qualifications (Rehab-Heavy)
- 3+ years of hands-on coding experience specifically in Inpatient Rehabilitation (IP Rehab / IRF)
- Strong expertise in E/M coding within a rehab setting (not just general inpatient)
- Certification required: CPC, CCS, or CIC
- In-depth knowledge of:
- IRF documentation requirements
- CMS guidelines for Inpatient Rehab Facilities
- ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding systems
- Proven experience reviewing multidisciplinary rehab records
- Strong understanding of medical necessity and compliance in rehab care
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Highly Preferred
- Experience working with IRF-PAI, CMG, and rehab reimbursement models
- Familiarity with therapy-driven documentation (PT, OT, SLP)
- Experience with DRG validation and denial management in rehab cases
- Prior experience supporting rehab hospitals or rehab units within acute care hospitals
- Remote – India
Pay: ₹10,133.88 – ₹50,679.53 per month
