Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end accounting for LiveRamp India in the ERP (e.g., Workday), ensuring books are complete, accurate, and compliant with Indian GAAP and aligned with Group / US GAAP accounting policies.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for the India entity:
Prepare, review, and post journal entries (accruals, prepayments, reclasses, payroll and bonus entries, intercompany, fixed assets, provisions, etc.).
Perform balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, investigate variances, and drive resolution with relevant stakeholders.
Ensure timely submission of management reports and schedules to global Finance / Corporate Controllership.
Coordinate preparation of statutory financial statements under Indian GAAP and support board/ shareholder approvals.
Partner with global FP&A to explain actuals vs. budget/forecast, provide variance analysis, and highlight key drivers for India operations.
Ensure proper maintenance of charts of accounts, cost centers, project codes, and dimensions for accurate reporting and analytics.
Own end-to-end monthly payroll processing for India employees (directly or via vendor), including:
New joiners, exits, transfers.
Salary revisions, variable pay, bonuses, and incentives.
One-off payments (e.g., sign-on bonuses, ex-gratia), reimbursements, and arrears.
Validate all input data from HR / HRIS (e.g., Workday) – attendance, leave, benefits, compensation changes, overtime, and LOP – before sharing/processing in the payroll system.
Review preliminary payroll runs, perform gross-to-net reconciliations, and ensure required checks are completed before finalization.
Coordinate with external payroll service providers (if applicable) and internal teams to meet all payroll timelines and accuracy SLAs.
Oversee Funding Calculations And Payment Files For
Net salary transfers.
Statutory payments (TDS, EPF, ESI, PT, LWF, labour welfare contributions, etc.).
Other employee-related payouts (F&F settlements, gratuity payouts routed through insurer/trust as applicable).
Generate, review, and share payroll reports (salary registers, variance reports, payroll cost by function, headcount/ FTE analytics) with Finance, HR, and management.
Act as a point of contact for escalation on employee payroll queries, partnering closely with HR to ensure timely, clear, and compliant resolutions.
Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts
Ensure full compliance with Indian payroll, labour, and tax regulations, including but not limited to Income Tax Act – TDS on salaries and Non-salaries, perquisite taxation, exemptions, and year-end tax computations. Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Professional Tax (PT), Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), Payment of Wages Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Shops & Establishments, and other applicable labour laws.
Oversee or coordinate timely monthly/quarterly/annual filings related to payroll and employee taxes (e.g., TDS returns, PF/ESI/PT/LWF returns, payment challans).
Support issuance and review of Form 16, Form 12BA and other employee tax documents; coordinate with external consultants where needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax and labour laws impacting payroll and employee benefits; assess and implement necessary process or policy updates.
Support compliance with Companies Act, FEMA, and transfer pricing requirements from a finance and payroll data perspective (e.g., providing data for intercompany charges, audits, and documentation).
GST compliances – Monthly returns, annual returns and assisting in providing data for documentation in support of refund application.
Coordinate directly with auditors and external advisors, respond to queries, and ensure timely closure of open points and management action items.
Required Qualifications
Chartered Accountant Inter (CA Inter) or equivalent strong accounting qualification; or MBA (Finance) with 7-10 years of experience in controllership and payroll for an India legal entity.
Good To Have
Strong working knowledge of:
Indian GAAP; exposure to US GAAP / IFRS is a plus.
Indian payroll concepts – CTC structure, allowances, reimbursements, variable pay, bonuses, gratuity, leave encashment, and tax-efficient salary structures.
Indian payroll and labour compliances – Income Tax (TDS on salaries), EPF, ESI, PT, LWF, Shops & Establishments, Payment of Bonus, Payment of Gratuity, and related returns/portals.
Experience managing or overseeing end-to-end payroll processing (in-house or via vendor) for a scale of at least ~300–500 employees in India.
Hands-on experience with ERP / HRIS / payroll systems (preferably Workday and a leading India payroll platform) and strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
Proven track record managing month-end close, GL reconciliations, Payroll processing, Tax (Income Tax & GST) and supporting statutory and tax audits.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams across time zones.
