Position: Senior Data Lead

Experience: 10-18 years

Location: Mumbai

Roles and Responsibilities:

Data Strategy & Leadership

·        Define and drive the data engineering and MDM strategy aligned with business goals

·        Lead and mentor a team of data engineers and analysts

·        Establish best practices for data architecture, scalability, and performance

·        Act as the data SME for procurement and supply chain domains

Data Engineering & Architecture

·        Architect and oversee scalable data platforms, pipelines, and data lakes/warehouses

·        Drive adoption of modern data stack and open-source technologies

·        Ensure high availability, performance, and cost optimization of data systems

·        Lead design of real-time and batch data processing frameworks

Master Data Management (MDM) & Governance

·        Own enterprise-wide MDM strategy and implementation

·        Define and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards

·        Ensure data quality, lineage, cataloging, and metadata management

·        Lead initiatives for data standardization, deduplication, and harmonization

Procurement Data & Domain Expertise

·        Drive data solutions for supplier, vendor, material master, and spend analytics

·        Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Supply Chain leaders for data-driven insights

·        Oversee integrations with ERP systems (SAP, Ariba, Coupa, etc.)

·        Enable advanced analytics: vendor performance, risk, compliance, and cost optimization

Data Quality, Compliance & Risk

·        Establish data quality KPIs, SLAs, and monitoring frameworks

·        Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements

·        Identify and mitigate data risks and inconsistencies

Stakeholder & Cross-functional Collaboration

·        Work closely with business leaders, product teams, and engineering

·        Translate business needs into scalable data solutions and roadmaps

·        Drive adoption of self-service data platforms and analytics capabilities

·        Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Technical Skills (Must-Have)

Core Data Engineering

·        Expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing

·        Strong experience with ETL/ELT frameworks (Airflow, dbt, Prefect)

·        Deep knowledge of data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)

Open Source & Modern Data Stack

·        Apache Spark / Hadoop ecosystem

·        Kafka / real-time streaming frameworks

·        Delta Lake / Iceberg

·        Experience designing lakehouse architectures

MDM & Data Governance

·        Hands-on experience with MDM tools/frameworks

·        Strong understanding of data modeling, lineage, cataloging

·        Expertise in data quality and governance frameworks

Procurement Systems (Preferred)

·        SAP MM, Ariba, Coupa, Ivalua, GEP, Zycus

·        Strong understanding of procurement lifecycle and data models

Mandatory Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
• 10 –15+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with strong exposure to MDM and Procurement/Supply Chain data
• Strong Data Engineering (Python, SQL, ETL/ELT)
• Experience in Data Architecture & Data Warehousing
• Expertise in MDM & Data Governance
• Experience with Big Data tools (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop)
• Hands-on with Cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)
• Experience in Procurement / Supply Chain data
• Strong Data Modeling & Data Quality frameworks
• Proven Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
