Network Engineer
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with 5–7 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and security best practices, and will be responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
• Maintain and administer network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other networking hardware.
• Implement and maintain network security policies, procedures, and technologies (e.g., firewalls, NAC, IDS/IPS).
• Manage IP addressing schemes, VLANs, routing protocols and QoS policies.
• Work with service providers and vendors to manage network services and resolve outages or incidents.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Support network expansion, upgrades, and migration projects across multiple locations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members and other IT staff.
Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Fresh service ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk).
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Communicate technical and non-technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
• Ability to coordinate clear, professional, and culturally appropriate communication with engineers and cross-functional teams in Germany.
• Candidates with excellent English communication skills, preferably with RP (Received Pronunciation) English, are preferred.
• Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries via email, phone, Teams and in-person meetings.
• Participate in and lead meetings, presentations, and discussions with clarity and purpose.
• Collaborate with cross-functional, international teams to ensure mutual understanding and shared goals.
• 5–7 years of professional experience as a Network Engineer in a mid to large-sized enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, NTP).
• Proficiency with enterprise-grade networking hardware (e.g., Fortinet, HPE Aruba, Palo Alto).
• Experience with routing and switching technologies (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP).
• Solid understanding of network security principles and tools.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Paessler PRTG, Wireshark).
• Familiarity with cloud networking (Microsoft Azure) is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Understanding of ITIL or service management best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Industry certifications such as ACNSA, or PCNSE.
• Experience with SD-WAN and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Knowledge of VoIP, QoS, and unified communications.
• Familiarity with automation/scripting tools is a plus.
• Experience working in regulated environments is beneficial.
