Network Engineer (L1.5) – Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Incident Management

• Monitor network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, links)
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve L1 & basic L2 level issues
• Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests within SLA
• Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 with proper analysis and logs

Troubleshooting & Support

• Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting (LAN/WAN, VPN, connectivity issues)
• Diagnose issues related to network performance, latency, and outages
• Assist in resolving user connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, LAN, internet)
• Support firewall rule checks and basic configurations

Configuration & Implementation Support

• Assist in device configuration (switches, routers, firewalls)
• Support network changes, upgrades, and patching activities
• Implement standard network changes under supervision
• Maintain configuration backups and documentation

Coordination & Escalation

• Work closely with L1, L2, and vendor/OEM teams
• Provide detailed incident reports and troubleshooting steps
• Ensure smooth handover of escalated tickets
• Follow up on pending issues until closure

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain network diagrams, asset inventory, and logs
• Update ticketing systems and CRM tools accurately
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on incidents and resolutions

Security & Compliance Support

• Monitor basic network security alerts
• Assist in implementing security policies and access controls
• Ensure adherence to company IT and security standards

Key Skills Required

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN
• Basic understanding of firewalls and network security
• Familiarity with tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.
• Understanding of routing & switching concepts
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

KPIs / Performance Metrics

• Incident resolution time (MTTR)
• SLA adherence
• First-level resolution rate
• Escalation quality
• Network uptime support

Experience

• 1–3 years in network support / NOC / IT infrastructure

Pay: ₹20,000.00 – ₹50,000.00 per month
