Job Purpose :
The QA / Business Analyst is a hands-on team member within the Agile Squad who supports both the requirements and testing sides of delivery. They help make sure the squad clearly understands what needs to be built, and then they verify that what gets delivered actually works as intended.
This role is about doing the detailed, practical work that keeps delivery on track. The QA/BA participates in requirements discussions, writes test cases, runs manual and automated tests, checks data accuracy, and flags issues before they become bigger problems. They are not expected to define the overall test strategy or make high-level quality calls on their own — that responsibility sits with more experienced team members. Instead, they bring energy, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn every part of the delivery chain.
Working in a regulated banking environment means accuracy is not optional. The reports, data, and systems this person tests directly affect the Bank’s financial reporting, compliance obligations, and daily operations. Getting the details right is a core expectation of this role.
Key Result Areas
Requirements Support and Documentation
The QA/BA takes part in requirements discussions with business stakeholders, the Product Owner, and the rest of the squad. They listen carefully, take notes, and help turn conversations into documented requirements and acceptance criteria. Where something is unclear, they ask questions rather than filling in the blanks themselves. They support the Senior QA/BA and Product Owner in making sure specifications are complete and testable before development begins.
For reporting and data work, this means helping to document expected data sources, calculation rules, filters, and reconciliation checkpoints — capturing the detail that developers and testers will rely on later.
Test Execution and Automation Support
The QA/BA is responsible for writing and running test cases across functional, integration, and regression testing cycles. They follow the test approach defined by the Senior QA/BA, executing both manual tests and contributing to automated test scripts where they have the skills. They are expected to grow their automation capability over time, learning to build and maintain scripts using the squad’s chosen tools and frameworks.
They log results accurately, document any unexpected behaviour clearly, and make sure test evidence is captured in a way that meets the Bank’s audit and traceability standards.
Data and Report Checking
The QA/BA supports the validation of data pipelines, ETL outputs, and the reports and dashboards built on top of them. Using SQL and basic data analysis techniques, they run checks to confirm that numbers flow correctly from source systems through to final outputs. For BI reports, they verify that filters, drill-downs, and displayed figures behave as expected.
They flag discrepancies to the Senior QA/BA or the development team and help investigate by gathering the data and evidence needed to pinpoint where something went wrong.
Defect Logging and Follow-Up
When the QA/BA finds a defect, they document it clearly — describing what happened, what was expected, the steps to reproduce it, and any supporting evidence such as screenshots or data extracts. They track defects through to resolution, following up with developers and retesting fixes. They learn to assess the severity of issues and begin to recognise patterns that point to deeper problems, raising these observations with more experienced colleagues.
Compliance Support and Test Evidence
The QA/BA helps maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results. They make sure their testing documentation is complete, clearly organised, and ready for review by audit or compliance teams if needed. They follow the Bank’s secure test data practices and change management procedures as part of their everyday work.
Learning and Growth
This role is designed for someone who is building their career. The QA/BA is expected to actively develop their skills in test automation, data validation, business analysis, and banking domain knowledge. They take feedback on board, ask for guidance when they need it, and look for opportunities to take on more responsibility as their confidence and capability grow.
