Sr. Power Systems Engineer/ Staff Power Systems Engineer Full Time

GridAstra is pioneering a new category of innovative Grid Software solutions. Our software platform accelerates the interconnection and sustained operation of new large loads (i.e. AI Data Centers), generation, and storage by de-congesting the power grid in an intelligent manner — reliably and cost-effectively. Role Summary:

Responsible for advanced Power Systems Application software development and successfully delivering assigned functions to meet GridAstra project/product commitments. The responsibilities include working with Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators), etc. on functional software specifications, designing, coding, testing, integration, application tuning, and delivery. Power Applications algorithmic development, prototyping, software development, and mentoring/coordination with junior developers are critical to this role.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for R&D activities for active contribution to developing new advanced features and applications in the Power Systems Software Engineering domain, which includes Power Systems Planning and Operational Software.
• Core algorithmic development, prototyping, and creating IP for the company.
• Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality, including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces.
• Consult with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are followed. Responsible for writing Application Functional Software Designs.
• Provide input to the leadership on schedules and cost estimates.
• Interfaces with customers on general and specific issues within functional expertise.
• Provides marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.
• Mentor interns and junior staff.
• Collaborate with other team members across different time zones.

Educational Qualification Requirements: 

• Master’s or PhD degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering with a thesis or related work in power systems focusing on Electrical power systems.

Technical Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 3+ years of development or project delivery experience in a related field.
• Working experience with core power systems algorithms.
• Excellent programming skills in C++ or other related languages.

Desired Skillsets:

• Work and/or academic research in the power systems area.
• Excellent knowledge of assigned technical area and a strong understanding of the Power Systems software.
•  Exposure to latest advancements in AI/ML
•  Knowledge and experience with electric utility industry practices
•  Strong knowledge of customer perspectives and needs.
•  Proven software design skills at the application and technical area level.
•  Ability to see integration issues and to preclude schedule impacts.
•  Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures.
