Warehouse/Yard Supervisor Edmonton, AB Full Time Consolidated Gypsum Supply is a building supplies distribution company operating in six locations across Alberta and Saskatchewan. In operation since 1977, we distribute over 2500 building products to contractors across western Canada.
We are currently seeking a Warehouse/Yard Supervisor to lead our team in a hands-on role. This position oversees daily operations in our yard and warehouse, where you’ll work alongside the team. If you’re passionate about safety, efficiency, and teamwork, we want to hear from you!
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Branch/Operations Manager the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Supervises all warehouse and yard staff and directs them accordingly.
- Responsible for daily operating efficiency (including wage expenses, inventory damages and order “fill” accuracy)
- Works in the yard/warehouse building customer orders.
- Unloads incoming shipments of building materials and places into designated warehouse/yard positions.
- Responsible for checking incoming vendor shipments for accuracy and condition.
- Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, housekeeping and repairs of all warehouse and yard facilities including equipment, structures, signage, racking systems, lighting, controls, etc.
- Responsible for security of both warehouse and yard facilities.
- Responsible for proper and professional inventory handling and management.
- Conducts interviews for warehouse/yard candidates.
- Responsible for training and development of the warehouse/yard staff.
- Conducts staff meetings once weekly.
- Continuous and regular communication with the Dispatcher and Branch/Operations Manager.
- Must check, sign-off, and authorize release of all built-up orders prior to their loading.
- Prepares and distributes the “Saturday Task” list.
- Regularly conducts a thorough walk-about of yard and warehouse with the Branch Administrator and Operations Manager.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the Branch/Operations Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum three years warehouse supervisory experience preferably in the building supply industry
- Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Previous experience using an ERP (BisTrack an asset)
- Must have strong leadership and excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and shift priorities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to walk/stand for extended periods as well as lift, push, pull up to 100 lbs.
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Fork Lift Certified
