Job Purpose This Position is for Basantnagar Cement Works, Telangana Position – Engineer/ Senior Engineer/ Assistant Manager Job Band – 11 Professional Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering Essential: Second class mines manager certificate of competency Monitoring mining operations by effective deployment of men, machinery, and materials, ensuring safe operations, optimum equipment utilization, statutory compliance and consistent achievement of production and quality.
Job Context : The role requires close coordination with Maintenance Section for HEMM availability, Time-office for Manpower, PQC dept. for quality and other inter-departmental activities to achieve safe production.
Major Challenges: Ensure safety and statutory compliance, meeting production targets with desired limestone quality parameters, Managing HEMM availability and manpower across shifts.
Key Result Areas
Supporting Actions
Mine Production & Operation Control
- Lead daily mining operations to achieve limestone, shale, and OB removal targets as per the mine plan.
- Ensure continuous crusher feed as per plant requirements (T/Hr & RM chemistry).
- Monitor and control production KPIs: cycle time, digging rate, trips/hour, fragmentation quality, face availability, etc.
- Prepare and execute weekly/monthly operational plans aligned with the DGMS?approved Mining Plan.
Shift Management
- Manage all shifts and lead Shift In?Charges, Foremen, Mates, Operators, and Contractor teams.
- Ensure seamless shift transition with structured handovers.
- Monitor shift productivity, equipment performance, and adherence to targets.
- Resolve shift-level operational challenges quickly to avoid production loss.
Safety, Statutory & DGMs compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to:
- Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR)
- DGMS circulars & safety guidelines
- Mine-specific SOPs & HIRA/JSA procedures
- Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Address unsafe acts/conditions immediately and implement corrective actions.
- Support safety audits, DGMS inspections, and internal statutory compliance.
Quality Control & Management
- Ensure selective mining to achieve required CaO, MgO, Al2O3, Fe2O3 levels as per QC.
- Coordinate blending and stacking to maintain raw mix consistency.
- Monitor variation in chemical composition and adjust working faces accordingly.
Contractor Management
- Manage multiple contractor teams for excavation, hauling, drilling, blasting, road maintenance, and dumping.
- Verify daily deployment, performance, and adherence to norms.
- Validate contractor measurement sheets: trips, m³, machine hours.
- Ensure contractor compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
