To support the Demand & Supply Strategy function by assisting in data analysis, industry research, financial modelling, and competitor tracking for the cement sector. The role aims to build internal capability and continuity by developing financial and strategic skills under the guidance of the Lead and senior team members. The incumbent will provide analytical support for demand projections, supply assessment, and competitor benchmarking, enabling timely and accurate business insights.

Considering the aggressive pace at which the company is growing to realise its goal to be the market leader in terms of market share and profitability across zones and regions, constantly relooking at and reviewing the strategy of the organization and staying connected with business realities and market dynamics is critical. This role undertakes in-depth analysis and make accurate demand and supply projections which can serve as the basis for facilitating sound business decisions. The fast-changing demand dynamics in the market necessitates accurate and robust supply projections (current/medium-term/long-term) to cushion the highly volatile demand dynamics and thus meet the organization’s aspirations and goals and mitigate competitor advancements.

Major Challenges

Projecting cement demand is particularly challenging and complex considering that there are innumerable drivers and variables that need to be monitored, owing to their ability to impact demand. This includes, but is not limited to, the ever-changing economic environment, both domestic and international, new government laws/policies, infrastructure constraints, uncertainty in the growth of the various segments (Housing/Infrastructure/Commercial) and sub-segments, relevant data sources which could provide insights into changes taking place and understanding their likely impact on demand for cement and BPD range.

The major challenge in making supply projections is the limited availability of competitor data. While UltraTech’s own data (pertaining to current capacity or capacity augmentation plans) are directly available, the same for competitors are not directly available (particularly capacity augmentation plans and their status).

Gathering knowledge on the allied industries and developing a cause effect relationship is a challenge owing to limited availability of industry data.

While availability of data both for demand and supply projections is a challenge, what adds up to it is that data is often not updated and accuracy of this available data is also questionable and needs to be thoroughly validated. This requires coordination with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external) for both acquiring new data and validating available data and projections. Also, getting the projections, estimates, strategic plans approved requires strong stakeholder management skills.

Key Result AreasSupporting Actions

Cement Industry Analysis Support periodic analysis of the Indian cement industry and prepare structured, template?based summaries. Gather and organize industry data from internal and external sources. Track updates on industry trends, policy changes, market behaviour, and segment developments.

Financial & Strategic Analysis Learn and support financial modelling for capacity expansions, M&A screening, and market feasibility. Assist with high?level HH/CR4 calculations, basic ratio analysis, and key financial metrics.

Data Management & Reporting Maintain BRC data updates and other recurring data files. Prepare periodic dashboards, trackers, and industry summaries. Ensure data accuracy, timely updates, and structured repository management.

Cross?Functional Coordination Interact with Sales & Marketing, CEC, S&OP, Key Accounts, Zonal Teams, IR, and external consultants for data validation and insights. Participate in discussions to understand projections, align assumptions, and support documentation.
