Purpose of the position

The position is a perfect platform to develop a career in the carbon market space. It will provide the exposure of working and developing an understanding of the various hot topics of global carbon market.

The role is centred around project execution and research delivery with a strong focus on Carbon Offsets (voluntary and compliance markets) and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) segment. The role will contribute to Market Intelligence & Data Insights products as well as consulting/advisory engagements

The candidate will be required to (I) develop an understanding of the carbon market (II) develop clean and usable datasets and reports through primary and secondary research in the aligned structures and formats (III) work diligently and maintain internal delivery timelines (iv) work cohesively and contribute positively in a team environment (v) learn and hone skillsets that are essential to delivering tasks with the requisite quality. The tasks are a crucial connect for developing interconnected databases, data analysis, and synthesis of various solution scenarios for the client’s problem statement.

Key responsibilities

1.      Market Research – Primary & Secondary

• Conduct in-depth research and deep dives on voluntary and compliance offset markets, with ownership of defined segments (project types, geographies, buyer/supplier themes, and/or CDR pathways)
• Track market trends including pricing/benchmark movements, supply-demand dynamics, issuance/retirement patterns, offtakes and investment activity, and key ecosystem developments.
• Track and analyse global policy and regulatory developments relevant to offsets and carbon credit markets; summarise implications for internal products and client deliverables
• Conduct primary research as required (stakeholder interviews, expert consultations) to validate and triangulate market intelligence

2.      Data & Insights Development

• Assist data team in building, maintaining, and assuring quality datasets (issuances, retirements, offtakes, investments, pricing, and other market indicators) with strong documentation and internal quality controls
• Analyse datasets to generate insights and visuals (charts/tables) and synthesise findings into clear narratives for internal and client deliverables
• Support development of repeatable data processes, dashboards and trackers as required by internal products and client engagements

3.      Project & Client Delivery Support

• Own and execute assigned workstreams within market intelligence products and consulting engagements; deliver first drafts of slides, written notes, and research outputs for senior review
• Develop client-ready storylines, recommendations, and workshop content; contribute to strategic advisory assignments
• Prepare content for webinars, reports, and industry events, including research, fact-checking, and speaker notes
• Lead and contribute to webinars, industry events, and internal discussions by presenting research findings and market perspectives.

4.      Time Management

• Strict adherence to task completion timelines with requisite quality, using internal project and time management tools; proactively flag risks and dependencies
• Maintain detailed documentation, datasets, and records aligned with internal quality requirements

Candidate Requirements

The candidates must have the following mindset and skill sets:

• Strong research, analytical and synthesis skills; ability to translate complex market/policy information into clear, structured outputs
• Data collection and analysis – database development, assessment and analysis; high attention to detail and strong QC orientation
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to articulate analytical thought in an easily comprehensible manner
• Demonstrated experience in primary research (e.g., stakeholder interviews) and secondary research across credible sources
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of standard tools such as MS Office suite – especially Advanced Excel (and strong comfort with PowerPoint)
• Data visualization skills & dashboarding (e.g., Power BI)
• Working knowledge of SQL; familiarity with Python or other analytics tools is a plus
• Foundational understanding of offsets/carbon credit markets and integrity concepts (issuance/retirement, additionality, permanence, leakage, MRV basics); curiosity and willingness to build deeper expertise in CDR
• Problem solving mindset, presentation skills, and strong time management/ownership

  Academic qualifications & Experience

• Masters in disciplines such as Energy or Environmental Management, Climate/Environmental Policy, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Data/Analytics, or a related domain
• 3–5 years of experience in consulting, market research, market intelligence, or climate/energy analytics with relevant experience of working on datasets and client-ready reports/slides; prior exposure to carbon markets/offsets/CDR is preferred
